I didn't watch beyond the first series because I think the producers cast and put people together simply for drama and good TV. It's the same with all these types of programmes. The allegations sadly don't surprise me at all. There is nowhere near enough safeguarding on TV. |

It's not a programme I watch, but I did watch the Panorama documentary.
I'm unsurprised about some of the issues that have come to light but feel quite conflicted about the no ejaculation incident |

"Did anyone watch it in its original format, l quite liked it then. The people seemed much more like they were looking for love as opposed to just wanting to be famous. "
First series seemed genuine and authentic. The rest was standard reality TV. They copied the format from the Australian one because they wanted more drama. Lots of cheating and fights in that one. Most of it is manipulated/scripted by the producers to get the desired result. They are also limited to the people who apply and think will keep audiences hooked. Some of the tasks are designed to cause drama/conflict/jealousy. Imaginary tests for the cameras.
If they ignored all of that and genuinely made it about finding love, the program would be boring at times but also more meaningful. |

It's been on 15yrs, it was Strictly last year.. while it's not something I've thought about, it's faired pretty well considering the format. The contestants over the last couple of years though have gone downhill, some highly manipulative teamed up with very meek partners or those who have raging arguments where you're wondering why they are anywhere near a show like that. |

The show has gone so far away from its original concept. They match couples simply because they know they’ll grate on each other. Allegedly the one groom was out on bail for domestic violence when he went on the show.
It’s well past it’s shelf life now and needs to be axed |

Yes! I liked the original style but have been hooked on the recent type. It seemed more like a real experiment then.
They imported the more confrontational style from Oz.
It does perturb me to think that they have a number of such dangerous people involved, who are not screened out but are possibly the opposite and being screened for
This year's Oz series had a lot of toxic behaviour and people in it. It was disgusting how many operated. |

I've never watched a single minute of it and said so on a thread once. When asked why I said because it didn't appeal to me at all and if I was being totally honest I was uncomfortable with the entire premise for the exact reasons that have now come to light. |

I have watched the last few series. I wasn't interested at all but the series before last caught my attention because of one particular woman who , to me, was mentally/emotionally ill, manipulative and using therapy words against her 'partner' like she'd swallowed psychological theory books for breakfast. Despite seeming sane , her 'partner' continued to entertain discussions with her that dehumanised him at every turn instead of hearing the alarm bells and ditching her.
She was so off the wall that I gathered this is what the producers aimed for and continued watching from that veiwpoint i.e it was interesting to me to watch the carefully coreographed manipulation of viewers.
I know there has now been accusations of non consensual sex and unwanted sex acts but I do feel that some responsibility has to be borne by the participants who know exactly what they are signing up for and have never been forced to 'shack up' with their partners. In fact , some openly say no - immediate intimacy is not for them.
As far as I can tell there is safeguarding and welfare for all participants should they wish to avail themselves of it.
Time will tell on this one.
I just look at the horror mess of humans that go onto the show for fame and seem willing to lose their self respect and dignity and then act as if they were unaware of how things could turn out. |

I was an avid watcher. The last few seasons of it definitely seemed to have more toxic personalities in that liked to cause drama for the sake of it. Looking back on it now, after what's been revealed, I won't be watching anymore x |

Fan of the Australian original series.
Only seen snippets of UK version.
Sexual assault although serious, because it's a dating show where the women look hot and the men are sex starved it's only inevitable.
