I need a dip in the ocean. Where’s good?

I'm south east coast but honestly, things progressively get better the further west you head

As a resident of Cornwall I feel I am bound to say...Cornwall has the worst beaches in the world. Definitely don't come here, us locals will take one for the team and visit them on your behalf 😂

In a galaxy far far away

I'm biased and saying South Shields. It's got a good long coast line, fun fair and attractions and close to the town centre for all the restaurants.

But for picturesque I'd say Bamburgh. It's pretty epic with the castle in the background.

"Following to see if anyone suggests a nudist beach "

Been swimming several times in the sea opposite the nudist beach at Morfa Dyffryn near Barmouth, really nice and very pleasant, best during late summer.

Just be on the lookout for jellyfish certain times of year.

The hardest part is climbing back up into the dunes.

Sunderland

If it's just beach and sea you want with nothing else there. People of the Sunderland area might disagree with here but.....

HENDON beach in my opinion has very clean sand with hardly any Rocky parts and the water look really clean too.

It really don't get the ratings as much as it should get.

Or if it's shops and pubs and stuff as well Roker and seaburn.

Have been votedin top 10 best beaches I do believe. I might be wrong though

Lytham, Saint Anne's. Sandy dunes and an enormous beach that takes an hour (feels like) just to reach the sea.

The best ice cream in Devon is from the Hockings van that comes onto the beach! Or used to, at least.

Still does. Had one on Saturday. Best ice cream ever.

I’m lucky to live here so I’m biased. We have a lot of beautiful beaches along the north Devon coast. I’d be happy to be a tour guide 😉

The best beaches in Europe are on the Scottish west coast and Hebrides. Just Google it.

Northumberland does have some of the most beautiful beaches in the country, but you don’t want to be sending the guy there! He says he wants a dip in the ocean… sorry but that sea off the coast of Northumberland is the coldest sea in the world !

Cornwall is good, Devon and contrary to popular opinion, Wales, the Mumbles for instance. Harlech is a long sandy beach. Scotland also has some stunning beaches but weather and midges can ruin that..

Can all North Easterners stop saying how fantastically beautiful our coastline is please, we don't want people knowing our little secret and inundating the place with visitors!

Though a while since been there..

There can't be as many as good as Tenby..with 4 beaches..

North beach..nicely protected

Harbour beach..was always a sun trap

Castle beach...

South beach..nice and long but more open to elements...

I'm Ilfracombe born & bred, so Devon will always be home for me. I miss living there so much - especially in the summer!

A pint in the Ty Coch Inn on Morfa Nefyn beach, is a sensational way to spend an afternoon.

It has to be one of the most picturesque beaches in the UK.
