"It is what it is..."
But the context I dislike it in is at work when uttered by someone trying to downplay something they have or haven't done.
Yes, Bob, it is what it is. But that's only because it's not what it could/should have been. |

See for me it’s when it becomes a standard response at work for a hatred of their job ‘it is what it is’ translation, ‘at least I’m not dead’ |

"Live every day like it’s your last.
If I did that I would be sacked, in prison and broke by tomorrow, no thanks"
🤣🤣🤣 Same. I'd be on another continent with no care in the world, then realise I'm jobless, homeless and broke. |

"Can I add "What you saying?" as a greeting, or randomly in a conversation.
I prefer the honorable greeting of “what’s cracalacking?”"
See I can reply to that! When I've just walked into the office, half asleep and get asked "What you saying, B??" my default is "Huh? Nothing?" 🤣 |

"I'm all for positivity so none of the mentioned comments bother me..but ',man up' really fucks me off! "
On a drinking day out last year I had this annoying cold, the type where you sneeze and blow your nose 300 times in a day. We were drinking pints and watching football and my mate watched me blow my nose and he said “oh get over it”.
Oh sorry I didn’t realise that’s how colds worked, you just get over them in an instant at your mates convenience haha
I was still drinking the same amount as him! |

I use this one a lot though mainly to tolerate not being able to do anything about the situation because the management where I work are both phenomenally stupid and incapable of recognising that any of their decisions are bad. So it often is what it is from my perspective because I can do fuck all about it and just have to ask how high when they demand I jump |

Lol I think your missing the point of tomorrow is another day.
The shit that today has ground you down with is fleeting and nothing will last forever darkness and the feeling of futility will not last and that life is worth living regardless of your current predicament. To me that's beautiful. And true.if it's not then we should all just give you now.
Just my opinion o.p x |

That’s fair, I can appreciate that, it wasn’t necessarily the overarching meaning, it’s the literal, as that could also be read, ‘the shit that ground you down today, will continue to grind you down tomorrow’
Or we’ve put too much thought into this and it was literally what sayings are a bit annoying….
Like guesstimate….. just say guess, or estimate, stop being a prick!
(I have said this in meetings and nearly been sick in my own mouth) |

Yep. Context is king.
I agree with Wolves - seeing the positive in a situation or recognising what you can't control is important, so can see this is not all bad! |

I don’t work in an office but I can imagine the dreaded good mornings 😅, my mind would just automatically go into reboot mode. Or in some cases factory reset |

It's definitely all about context and the manner it's being said. Tomorrow is another day is a good example of a positive affirmation said in the right circumstances from the right person.
Turn that frown upside down from a random. Meh fuck off. |

I think I'm too relaxed to get upset over these right now. Or I just don't care anymore. I think we all get annoyed by something every now and then. It's normal. I can't think of anything specific right now though.
It is what it is. 😜 |

That's fair and I see what your saying, to a degree I agree, but that's often because people bitch about nothing. If anyone thinks life is easy then god bless them and the luck or effort they have put in.for most life is grind and the the though that it's all leading to something better is a powerful motivation. I'm not trying to piss on anyone's chips. But for my own sanity I believe that life is worth all the hardships we endure for the rare moments of genuine connection. 👍 |

In a work context, 'by close of play'. If I'm at work, I'm not playing. And if you are then you're obviously being overpaid for what you do. But then this is generally used by senior managers, so... |
