Ok!

So I was recently working abroad for just shy of a month.

While I was out in the nearby city where I was working, myself and a colleague were addressed by a couple of English guys, who upon hearing us speaking English, shouted out “my god! Is that an English voice I am hearing here ? We never get English guys out here ! “

We joined them at their table and it turned out they were two Great Britain Paralympic athletes who were just pipped from getting gold medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

I never recognised either of these two amazing athletes and as we spoke I realised how ignorant I was and how totally amazing these two guys were. When I got home I looked it up on YouTube and sure enough, these two guys that a couple of weeks before I had been sat sharing drinks with were on screen playing at the very top of their sport… anywhere in the world !

A totally humbling experience.

I wonder if others have had similar moments where they were suddenly brought to earth with a bump, or just experienced an event that made them think again about their own perspective on life ?

Ha! As in Ron Jeremy from those classic 1970’s/80’s porn movies ?

Did you recognise him as soon as you met him ?

I must admit, I would have enjoyed meeting him and allowing him to … erm .. leave an impression on me!
