Cynical but probably true for a lot of jobs.

Some of us are lucky and have decent jobs with employers who value them. One of our long-termers just handed her notice in for a perfectly valid reason: doesn't need to work any more and wants to spend more time with her grandchildren (and support her daughter who does need to work). And my boss said "damn, she'll be missed, and I'd be fucked if you left as well".

I reassured him there's no chance of that.

My issue isn't really that things crop up is how often they crop up haha . There are so many emergencies that it does make you wonder on here how many are truly being honest.

I will give the benefit of the doubt if it sounds plausible but mostly they never rearrange once they've flaked. It's upto the person that flaked to try and rearrange the meet in my opinion.
