Everything seems to be in greyscale now.
Cars, homes, clothes, shops and restaurants, web design.
Everything seems grey, minimalist and boring.
Or am I just getting old and behind on the trends? 🤔 |

"Part of the control of people to be sheep i seen the simpsons

It's been trendy for at least fifteen years. Greys in the 2010s, beiges and browns now.
I think it's about trying to sell en masse. Rather than selling to a subset, people try to sell to everyone. Plus neutrals are more rental friendly.
You don't have to if you don't want to. My walls are green. |

My bedroom and bathroom are purple. Rest of the walls are green.
My furniture is neutral because it's harder/more expensive to replace, but my accessories in the house are all colourful. |

"McDonald's use to look brilliant when I was young. Its dull AF now
I remember it being very brown 😂"
In the 80s/90s it was full of colour, reds & yellows, character birthday parties, it was a fun place to be. It's so dull now
Let's start a petition, bring back the fun bright McDonald's |

Aye, I was telling my kids about the statues of Ronald and Hamburglar, the colourful chairs and tables but now they gotta enjoy their Happy meal in prison. |

Someone somewhere sat behind a desk and said let's fuck it all off and add a grey and brown office look. That will make customers happy 🤔
Why, just WHY
I'm taking this seriously

It's like that for a lot of places. Turns out a "minimalist" design saves money when building new franchises and also makes the building more sellable when it closes down. |

"The 90s patterned wallpaper, carpets and couches was enough to last us a lifetime.
I swear, most trends are just "my parents did x. Eww. I want not x"
True. But it was overstimulating 😂"
Oh god yeah. I would quite like to kill minimalism with fire, but I'm not recommending pattern on rich colour on rich colour. Much too much. |

My family home was relatively understated. I think I was lucky. Lots of colour, but no wallpaper and some major neutral pieces. |

My childhood sofa had a curtain around the bottom edge, I’m glad that never made a comeback |

"Next week I'll host the "Technicolour Monday" thread. It doesn't have the same ring to it but, for the sake of variety, it's worth a kaleidoscopic punt.

One contrast I've found quite interesting is mainstream and small business nail polish. (Lacquer, not gel. I can't speak to gel)
Mainstream trends are endlessly renamed neutrals and a small number of seasonal variations (berries for autumn, pastels in spring).
Small business/indie nail polish is... the absolute opposite of that. Think glitter chunks, sometimes in layers of translucent colours to increase the effect, multichrome polish, holographics... |
