I hate being rushed when immersing in foreign culture & art, especially at musuems. Someone always gets grumpy, or hungry, bored, or has other 'insta' agendas. Have vowed to travel alone next. Also, musuems are good fun to argue perspectives with strangers. |

I always solo travel. I've made some great friends along the way. Recently got back from a convention in Birmingham, met up with some people on fabs, and made friends at the pub I was staying by chatting to them and connecting over the convention we were going to. Even helped them change their flat tire for them |

I do a mixture of city visits (wherever is cheap on easyJet at that time) and walking trips solo every year. Can't recommend it highly enough. Cleanses the soul and a chance to truly switch off. You'd be amazed at home many people do it. |

"So just UK for you? Donyou go with any intention of 'action' or just as a break?"
I go to other locations around the world. I go for a set reason. For instance, Birmingham was a board game convention. If any play happens, its luck. |

I went to Krakow last year for my first solo trip and love the city break style holidays where I can wander around and doy own thing at my pace. I did find it a bit lonely in the evenings when eating out but overall, I really enjoyed myself. I'm off to Budapest in a couple of weeks on my own too and really looking forward to it! |

"I've been to Prague 4 times on my own, I love it!
How is Prague? I was looking between that Budapest for this year but was put off a bit by the sort of "stag-do" reputation it has."
It's an absolutely gorgeous place!! So easy to get around and see everything. Yes it does have the reputation for the stags and Czech people do get a bit funny about it but they are friendly enough if they know you are there being sensible lol. I'd love to go to Budapest! |

That's fair enough, I'll have to add it to the list to head there some time. I don't think wandering on my own and trying to find good food would get me in trouble 😄 |

I've mostly gone away in the UK on my own, but I did Spain on my own last year and Tenerife the year before. Largely dictated by funds, if it's a choice of 'don't go' or 'go on my own but camping or hostel' then I'd rather go away.
I don't know anyone that would happily join me on that kind of holiday so that's how it is.
I've enjoyed it, sometimes I've chatted to people, sometimes I haven't, but I'm happy in my own company so it doesn't worry me. The hostel was best for making new friends.
I daresay if I fancied an all inclusive type holiday (and to be fair, I very much do ) I have friends who would be up for it too. |
