Sometimes we don’t notice winks, we will wink back if they are someone we would be interested in. Delete them if not.
Sometimes though we get a wink, message the person and hear nothing back so sometimes I think they can be pointless , for others it’s a way of showing interest with out writing a message ? |

Seriously though you can gauge a lot from a message for me a turn off is short hand text speak type messages.

I sometimes get them, had a few since posting in forums, sometimes even with some of my pics fab’d. If I wink or message them, they don’t even respond.
Literally pointless, especially as a single male thinking wow someone has actually approached me first for once! Then tumble… |

I still send winks, even though 99.9% lead to nothing (obvious exception to profiles that say don't do it or get blocked).
But it's sooo rare that I get a wink first. Maybe once every 2 or 3 months. |

In the last five years or so I've probably sent a dozen winks. I find them pointless and superfluous and I rarely check my winks, if at all.
It's just a perfunctory gesture that achieves next to nothing for some people. |

I'll send a wink with a message if I like a profile.
I do state in my profile that if I get a wink, I'll respond. But I'll only do so if I like their profile and if I'm not to busy with life in general.
They are few and far between, so I love getting them, 😊
