"Quite a few scenes in Obsession - The cat scene, the bedroom scene where she walks weirdly and many more
The clapping scene and the ghost over the wardrobe scene in the Conjuring. "
I started watching The Conjuring last night but it was getting dark so I chickened out halfway though.
Watched the rest this morning, the basement scene freaked me out when the hands clapped behind her and blew the match out |

"in its day defo exorcist
Exorcist 3 - ceiling granny
The Exorcist sequels are on my to watch list, as well as Insidious.
I'm playing catch up with my horrors."
Only watch the 3rd one. The rest are terrible. Although haven't seen the last one. |

Thanks for the tip, will do.
I watched Hereditary yesterday. Not really scary, more physiological. I like a good jump scare |

I love horrors but I'm such a chicken, literally cannot pinpoint a single most scariest scene. There are so many!
IT was great for scares.
Blair witch classic ending scene in the house was great.
The Ring aswell...
I'm a sucker for Jeepers Creepers too haha!

"Insidious when the man is walking outside the window and then suddenly appears in her face.. its not that scary but it is!"
I was going to go to the cinema today but sacked it off as I'm not feeling too good.
So I just watched Insidious, don't know if I'm getting desensitised but I didn't find it scary, despite all the online hype about it |

Yeah that clap scene was completely unexpected |

"I love horrors but I've never been scared by any movie - and I've seen A LOT. I'd say a scene that comes to mind though is the night vision creature reveal in The Descent. "
I love horrors too, and don't usually get scared, but the movie Us freaked me out so much I turned it off. |

I've never heard of Us before.
Just YouTubed the trailer, that's definitely on the watch list! |

"Oh and the hostel. I'll never be right again after seeing it "
Yeah I remember the first time I saw Hostel, it was pretty intense.
I've seen a french film called Frontiers which is similar to hostel, but a lot worse. |

The scene in Paranormal Activity where she gets up and stands over her husband, just watching him sleep, and then you see the clock go on for like 6 hours or whatever still scares the fuck out of me |

Yes and
I think is Paranormal Activity 3, where the guy opens the door and there's a shit ton of people just standing there motionless. Very dodgy |

The thing that scares me most about Hostel is the fact that things like this probably happen in the real world."
I agree and how sick do you need to be to even think these scripts up. |

"Has anyone seen the new fil. Coming out called the ice cream man? Looks horrible but good!
It's Eli Roth's new film (the creator of hostel)
Just watched the trailer on YouTube.
OMFG! "
I've been thinking more about this.
How/why can he get kids to act out this stuff. It must mentally scar them |

The strangers stuck with me for a long time, the bits where the killers just keep appearing randomly at windows and stuff just freaked me out and I can’t look out of the window at night without it popping into my head |

It's weird how films can affect you that way.
When I first watched The Grudge I couldn't look in the mirror whilst doing my teeth incase I saw something behind me in it |

I've just watched Us this afternoon.
Interesting concept, I've not seen anything like it before. And what a twist at the end, didnt see that coming |

Yeah I can’t remember which film it was but I had a similar one with mirrors in bathrooms because of that sort of thing |

"A few scenes from poltergeist messed me right up as a kid 👀😮💨
Ditto, that old bloke from poltergeist 2, wtf "
Not seen the second one, the first one was too scary. I was about 9 though, not the best film for a child. I begged my parents to let me watch it and they gave in. I couldn't sleep without a light on for years

"The curb stomping scene in American History X. I still remember the sound of the dude's teeth biting down 🫣"
I find actual things that are hoffic must more unsettling than supernatural. Like the bottle scene in "pans labyrinth". No Devils or monsters, just everyday people showing us what we/they are capable of.

"Insidious when the man is walking outside the window and then suddenly appears in her face.. its not that scary but it is!" same film when the demons face appears in a picture on the wall. Plus the music he plays.

No real hide behind the couch moments, although one that got me as a kid was from the original Cantina scene in Star Wars... I used to fast forward past the guy with the glowing eyes.. I used to think he looked like a devil, he's on screen for like 2 seconds...
The original Alien chest burster scene was a jumpy one, and Nicholson's descent into madness in The Shining was creepy as anything, There were some creepy scenes in Event Horizon too. There was also Nightmare on Elm Street too at the end where Freddie appears through the door and drags the mum inside. |

"Just finished The Conjuring 2
Not as good as the first one, but the scene with the demon nun coming out of the painting was pretty dodgy "
Watched The Conjuring 3 yesterday and 4 today. A couple of jump scares but not very scary as a whole.
The sequels were a bit repetitive and I think the first one was the best for overall scares. |

My parents watched the original Friday the 13th at the cinema when it came out back in 1980. This was (obviously) long before the internet, and the ending wasn't a matter of public record. It had been a smash in America, and this was a time when it took up to months for big films to get to the UK, giving time to trumpet how successful it had been, and building anticipation.
My mother knew that something was going to happen regarding Jason, but didn't know exactly what. Long story short, she cheerfully related that in a sold-out cinema, the entire audience SHAT THEMSELVES when it happened!! She said it was the only time she's ever seen popcorn fly in the air during a film. |

So many great ones already listed 😃
Here’s one; The original Thai version of, The Eye.
The scene where the newly sighted heroine is in the writing class and suddenly hears a ghost say aggressively, ‘Why are you in my seat?!’
And then….after a pause the bloody thing comes rushing at her 😵💫😵💫😱 |
