I ordered an LP by a band called Calacas via Bandcamp the other week. Have to wait for them to press some more because they'd only made 50 to begin with. Last one I bought that I have in my possession is Holy Island by Sister Ray Davies.
Don't know how many I have, it's not that many, a couple of hundred maybe, a lot of singles from the 90s, then stopped buying vinyl and only really started buying it again last year. |

"Last vinyl album. Probably very late 80s, began the switch to CDs by then.
Maybe The Cure / Disintegration. Cant completely remember.
I really don’t get the vinyl revival, but each to their own."
Never been a revival for me I’ve always bought my genre on vinyl since a yoof

"I've got a couple of hundred LPs, including many that I bought in the 1980s and 90s.
Last one I bought was about a year ago – 180g vinyl is a different class to what we used to get!"
Yep. You got a point, I remember buying the smiths, hatfull of hollow in the 80s it was practically a floppy disc.
Nobody wants a floppy disc |

Theyre records. Not vinyl. Thats just pure hipster wank. "

They were always records. You went to a record shop. Only thing wirse than calling a record vinyl is call them vinyls. Thats so fucking wrong.
Im in the midst if getting rid of mine. Gave 50 away recently. |

Mint first pressings of The Joshua Tree and The Unforgettable Fire were the last ones I bought. I was checking my collection and they were the only original pressings I didn’t have.
Collection wise, probably somewhere in the region of about 3000 albums and roughly the same on CD. |

I've used records and vinyl almost interchangeably for nearly 40 years. I'd browse through the vinyl to find a record to buy. Would never say vinyls though. |

Haven't bought a record in decades. Used to have about 5,000. Now I have a similar amount on CD.
I have embraced digital technology and have all my music on a network attached storage (NAS).
I am old enough to remember when we only had singles and albums, both on vinyl. Even I think shellac is a thing of the past!
On the advent of CDs, we still called them albums or singles, which was always qualified by saying on vinyl or CD to show we had embraced modernity.
The use of the term vinyls is abhorrent! |

I have a big collection that I started decades ago but it's abroad. Here, I started a new one. The last found was in a Charity in Fulham. The vinyl vintage soundtrack of Polanski’s Knife in the Water for 5 pounds. A treasure. The art is incredible and the vinyl is bright blue. |

"Vinyl" is a colloquial term for records/LPs and its use is valid, despite the pedantry on here.
I find it ironic how those who aren't cute try to be cute and are oblivious to their own grammatical failings but are given a free pass on that. |

No wonder some people (not me) are put off starting forum threads.
So thank you kind sir
My genre has ovo events, original vinyl only |

I have about 350 in my collection, however i also like to get them signed. The last album i bought was Sepultura "Cloud of Unknowing" and the two gems in my collection are Iron Maiden "The Sound House Tapes(Autographed)" and White Zombie "Super Sexy Swingin Sounds". I honestly need cheaper hobbies! |

I bought my first 45rpm vinyl record when I was about 12. (The Earth Dies Screaming by UB40)
As I got a little older, I would also listen to my grandad's 78s (mostly Jazz and Ragtime). These were pressed on shellac – so, to be a bigger pedant, not all records are vinyl. 😜 |

That’s awesome (Bowie and you being a vinyl head ).
I have my folks’ original White Album with all the photos that came with it.
I’m a bit of a collector - have an over three thousand 7” and 12”s, maybe more. |

CD revival is more interesting particularly some of the early stuff was quite experimental doing stuff not possible on vinyl. |

You definitely can't beat a bit of vinyl though sadly I got rid of a lot of mine some years back.
But started collecting again though only really 7" singles, which has gone a bit mad since I started re collecting a couple of years ago. Probably now up to around 700 singles now. I try and only collect stuff that comes in a picture sleeve which is easier said than done as lots of English records only came in record company sleeves or plain black or white sleeves. So I do have a fair few imports which almost all are picture sleeves. Last record purchased Boz Skaggs Lido Shuffle though sadly only in a plain white sleeve. |

I love searching in charity for records and vinyl art. I have a colleague at work who gets 1970s ones just for the art work |

"i have about 3000 records"
I have no idea what that actually looks like, but an old neighbour of mine had a 4 metre-wide wall stacked with LPs from floor to ceiling (probably ten shelves) – easily the biggest collection I've ever seen.
He ended up moving to Australia – no idea if he managed to take them with him or not. |

Paul van Dyk – For An Angel, 30th Anniversary addition. Got it to add to my collection of trance and some techno. Have been known to do a bit of mixing. Just for fun. Not sure how many I have in my collection. |

Love vinyl.
I’ve got around 4000 singles (1959-1990)
200 twelve inches and around 300 albums.
Most prized are some Depeche Mode white label promos for Love in Itself and Get the Balance Right.
All the Beatles albums on their first outings (thanks Dad) and the entire Depeche Mode album / singles / 12” / Ltd 12” and special Ltd 12” releases along with some rare picture discs and foreign pressings, everything up to Ultra.
Sad I know.
