Maybe my first thread here?

So there have been plenty if threads to keep me entertained while I'm working all night (like tonight) but I also regularly have insomnia (and I try to stay off my phone then)

So what mad crazy tricks do people have to get to sleep when they have insomnia?

I have heard that banana skin tea is supposed to work? 🤮

I usually try meditation if my brain won't turn off, and a mug of hot milk but I think thats a placebo effect!

Any good ideas gratefully received 😊

Creative visualisation often serves as a ticket to the land of nod for me.

Put blue light devices onto red (night sleep mode)

I listen to stuff like sleepy scientist and a bunch of space stuff that last for hours designed for sleep. I should oroby log off

Thankfully op, I don’t really have this problem apart from when I’m drinking on a binge and the first night I come off the beer it’s really hard to sleep, I just tried to breathe very slowly but ends up being quite a restless night but have no problem sleeping with a few drinking

I often visualise serene scenes and journeys through idyllic locations much like the Wiccan technique of, Pathworking.

Said inner journeys are subsequently interrupted by images that I have not willed as I enter what is termed the hyp-nogogic *I had to break up the word due to site restrictions*, state which in turn gives way to me slipping away into peaceful slumber 😃

I usually take my medication about an hour before bed but if I can't switch off will have some melatonin and in extreme cases something a bit stronger but I don't like to take it as I feel shite the next day..

When I'm ready I have to put the phone away and put something on the tv low that I have watched dozens of times and its more to listen to like a comfort thing

A cup of tea at night time will make me tired. Other than that all I've got is alcohol and some blues lol

I feel for you, also a shift worker here, always have trouble sleeping at night - when on dayshift or off days - but, oddly, have no issues sleeping in the day when on nightshift!

Like yourself, I really wish I knew the answer
