Rod Stewart cancels concert to go watch the World Cup

Rod Stewart was due to perform at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, California, on Friday night, but pulled out at the last moment

Rod Stewart posted a video of himself and two of his sons on a private jet, with the caption: "Me and the boys off to Boston to see our Scotland in the World Cup! No Scotland no party.

With the concert cancelled 40 minutes before the start, fans lost travel money, hotel fees, time off work and everything else that we are charged for attending a concert.

Still Sir Rod got to watch Scotland win, along with his sons and friends.

Yes he is both a follower of Celtic and Scotland, but it's not fair for the fans who pay to see him.

If I didn't turn up for work to match a football match and posted about it on social media I'd get sacked

Be ok if his fans will be compensated for thier loss due to last minute cancellation (since it's not exactly force majeure). Maybe a liability case making him accountable for his actions. All depends on contract whilst booking ticket for concert, etc...!

Feel for his fans, out of pocket, etc.

In any case, congrats. to Scotland for their first win, gr8 result and I do hope they manage to go all the way...!

I know 2 people who were actually sacked because of private info on Facebook that the workplace was able to read

Well the fans know what to do when he does another concert or releases a song.

The same as I've always done, ignored him. The only thing I've enjoyed about Rod is the Kenny Everett sketch when his pants/butt kept expanding.

I know of a teacher who lost her job due to Facebook posts.

👌 Class act (used to watch Kenny Everett back in those days, found clip on YouTube, still funny today)

My old employers HR team used to monitor Facebook accounts of those employees with high sickness/unauthorised absences.

Silly old sod should have charged more when he was full time work then he would not have any need to be working at his age and give the young ones a chance to entertain us.

Partly, once the board of governors get wind of something you're toast basically.

Anybody stupid enough to post on social media, whilst throwing a sickie, is probably a liability in general.
