6 Years Sober, Still Healing..

Hi everyone,

I’ve been sober from pain pills for over 6 years, and while I’m proud of how far I’ve come, I still carry a lot of grief from my addiction. I know I’ll never go back, but some of the pain and loss from those years can still be hard to process.

Lately, I’ve been focused on finding clarity and peace amid the chaos life can bring. Recovery is about so much more than staying sober—it’s about healing, growing, and learning to live with yourself.

If you’re struggling with addiction, sobriety, depression, anxiety, mental health challenges, or grief, know that you’re not alone. I’d love to hear from others who are walking a similar path.

Wishing strength and support to everyone fighting battles others can’t see.

Well done mate. 6 years sober is something to be proud of. And a great post. Hopefully it provides the space for those who need it to express themselves 👍🏾☺️

A super post.. what a story and what an inspiration you are... 6 years sober is a brilliant achievement.

I bet there are still times when the path grows dim, but you haven't lost the light. I begin Talking Therapies for my issues (anxiety, depression, work place stress and yeah grief and anger in there too at bringing some of my health issues on myself) and I am in a brighter spell where I am ready for therapy, and talking about these things is what we have. Different Mens' groups were suggested to me and over the last couple of months there have been some dark, hugely emotional days. I am still getting a bit emotional when I voice it but I need to speak to stop the darker voice from sounding loud. It doesn't have the same power and hold on me, and I believe that I am morphing into something else and want to use the takes and experiences to help further normalise what we go through, there is 1/5 of us that are fighting unseen battles every day. Let's be seen and let's not go quietly despite some politicians feeling the need to belittle it and other people that don't understand and tell us to pull ourselves together.

Welcome and thanks for sharing

well done fella.

I no exactly what it's like

I am recovered addict too.

But mine was the old devils dust (cocaine)

No body who hasn't been what we have been through no just how hard the everyday struggles are.

2 and half year clean for me. And still each day is a struggle cause the temptation is there and it's just far to easy to get hold of now.

Don't no about you but when I got clean it gave me a different look on life and I look back at 19 years I wasted sniffing, cause of 1 stupid night the night I had my first line.

Keep up the hard work fella.

Well done!! Addiction can be so very hard, not just for the addicts themselves but those who care about those people too.

Keep it up!! the hardest parts are admitting you have a problem then getting the help you need so you have smashed that!

Stay positive and focused. All the best x

Well done it's definitely a big achievement, myself recovering still 13 years from alcohol and drugs used the 12 steps programme to clear the past and my head, found being with others helped by sharing our stories and real life is. It's so much better to what we had previously, we just lived but didn't exist and even now still worry re picking up again, but remember what it used to be like to remind me definitely not a good idea 👍

So keep doing what your doing and stay amazing 🤩
