Some would argue that's the whole point of sports/entertainment. To numb us into avoiding the real life problems we have. If we didn't have any entertainment we'd be more invested in politics and probably riot. |

football is tribal, a sense of belonging.
people need something like that to take them away from work and other life pressures.
if you want to see how much it means to people come watch the mens and womens teams at my local club. many familes giving up time and money to support players so they can continue playing and working.
i support familes who cannot afford boots and other equipment and also support the junior girls and and senior ladies team as funding is greatly reduced for them.
at the local level football means so much more and has a hard working community which keeps peoples dreams alive.
