Carrying on from the "Fear" thread, I've noticed plenty who say heights
Do any of you feel anything physical?
I don't like heights;I can't watch POV videos of heights, can't look out of a window high up, can't walk on to anything heigh up, like balconies, glass floors, bridges etc my legs feel like jelly, my tummy flips, my thighs tingle and not in a good way |

For me I can be up high as long as I’m not near an edge or on a glass floor.
Saying that tho I can stand closer to the edge if there something for me to hold on to that can keep me steady. I think it’s more the fear of falling from height than the fear of height itself for me |

Never really had a fear of heights when I was young, used to love going on the biggest and fastest rollercoasters etc
About 12 years ago I did a bungee jump off a crane outside a pub for charity. Standing up there wasn’t too bad although pretty windy. Jumping off it was one of the worst feelings ever! There’s about 2 seconds where you just drop to the floor and you can’t feel the rope around your ankles, it feels like you really are falling to your death. Hated it!
Something that has always been difficult is dtsnding on something elevated and then looking upwards. If you have a fear of heights, do not do that

"It makes me feel light headed and disoriented. My heart starts racing and I start shaking.
I also get an overwhelming feeling of doom.
I never had a fear of heights before flying."
I'm ok flying but can't and won't look out of the window 🫣 |

For me, as others have said, it's the fear of falling
I'm great in a high rised building or looking over the Humber Bridge half way across as it's feels stable and secure but I can't stand in a stool or go up ladders, freaks me out |

"Following on as you say, I thought I had a fear of heights for the rains you have but actually it’s the fear of falling for me not the height itself.
And no I don’t want to do a parachute jump 😂"
When I was in the RAF we went up in a Herc and the crew let us strap in and sit on the open ramp - I was 18 at the time and did it, didn't bother me at all 🤷🏼♀️ |

I wouldn’t say I have a fear of heights but do suffer from vertigo. This is usually caused by heights. Even being up a ladder can cause it.
I get discombobulated eyes which causes my brain to swim and the horizon to tilt of its axis. Therefore, dizziness and nausea accompany it |

"i dont have a fear of heights, but a female friend just cant cope with it clings onto my arm so tight,, and your right poly its not funny"
We went on a cable car when we toured Europe last summer. Boarded the bloody thing and I put my head down
The operator came over to me to make sure I was OK and I jokingly explained my fear
When the death trap reached its destination she came back and told me to wait...
Turns out, at the top of the bloody mountain, some knobhead thought I'd be fun to have a glass floor upon exit 🤢 she took me by the arm and guided me through the staff exit and hugged me goodbye 🫶🏼
I was never so grateful for a 3mile walk down a mountain |

My fear started out of the blue about 15 years ago when we went to watch a panto at Christmas. We was sat in the upper level and I remember looking down to the stage and being terrified! It actually felt like I was falling forwards. I told hubby I needed to get out of there, but I was too scared to stand up and walk down the stairs. I had to though, because I was convinced I was going to plummet to my death! 🙈
I actually believe I have undiagnosed vertigo. Id never been scared of heights previously and now I can get in a tizz just going down an escalator. Can't even do the cinema! |

I avoid them at all costs but don't have an issue with them. So I've done loads of jobs where I have to work at fairly substantial heights. And I can do it but if I can avoid heights I absolutely will.
Cliffs for instance are just as nice 100m back from the edge 🤣

I used to be afraid of heights. Then I started climbing the buildings at my school. I got over it. Then I became an adult and stayed grounded for a long time. Now I'm afraid again. I feel unbalanced if I'm at a great height and it's windy. I'm not afraid if I'm in a plane. Not sure what's happened to me. |

I’m absolutely terrified of them even watching videos gives me jelly legs
If anyone has ever been to the biomass plant at sandwich in Kent and been up the staircase to nowhere (it actuslly goes somewhere but the way the last flight turns towards the door into to building looks like it just goes to the sky and stops going up it was the most terrifying experience of my life I had to crawl up and just wanted to freeze the treads are that mesh flooring too absolute horrible experience that still gives me the chills to this day |

I have a fear of heights despite having been a pilot since I was 14 yrs old. It’s a security thing with me. I’m totally happy strapped into a aeroplane or hanging out the side of a helicopter on a harness. If I stand on a tall ladder I feel unsafe. I’ve done abseiling and been happy with that but standing on a roof or anything with no restraint around me makes me nervous 😬 |

Fear of heights can be treated, its predominantly physiological so CBT and gradually exposure to retrain your brain can help you to become comfortable and less anxious, the term start slow and work your way up could not be more literal in its correctness! |

This 100%.
I fucking hate heights. I dislike flying greatly too, but the thought of bungee jumping, parachuting or standing on one of those glass floors on the top of a skyscraper? Fuck that.
I got dizzy and a sense of vertigo watching 'Fall' on my TV from the comfort of my sofa. 🤦🤦😭😭
