Unfortunately my taste in music is not shared by any of my good friends. I often see gigs id love to go to but no one to go with.

Anyone been to a gig on their own? Id have to travel to london, get a hotel etc that part wouldn't bother me so much but the actual gig might be a bit meh on my own.

Im away at one now alone fir the reasons you have just described.

It was daunting the first time but its actually quite nice. Eat/drink when i fancy, switch stages/acts when i want, no losing people on toilet breaks etc. I can take the motorbike too so entry/exit is swift.

.

What music you like?

I've gone to lots on my own. I can't NOT go if I can't find someone else to go.

The only downside, is that you can't have the "wasn't that bit really great" conversation after with anyone.

I went to see Tommy Emmanuel last week and he was AMAZING but non of my friends wanted to go.

Morning OP.

I go to gigs quite often on my own, and at first I was nervous but now it doesn't feel like a big deal.

I rarely strike up a conversation with someone, but I still enjoy myself as long as it's a band I really enjoy.

Mid August I'm going to one by myself!

What music/bands do you listen to OP?

I've been to a handful of gigs on my own, mainly due to liking some obscure stuff that isn't always the same as what my friends like. It can get a little boring waiting for the bands to start but other than that it's fine, I still get lost in the music once it starts.

Nothing wrong with going somewhere alone, loads of folk miss out on a lot of experiences because they feel they should always have company. The idea that doing a thing alone makes you a loser somehow still prevails, but your own company is great too! I go to conventions alone, movies, shows, trips; I'm only missing out if I can't afford them, or if my anxiety is kicking my ass too hard. Doing things at 100% your own pace is liberating. Enjoy!

I’ll be going to deftones at all points east by myself this year and it’s sometimes easier without all the hassle of being with people. Always end up talking to people, especially at metal gigs because it’s a friendlier atmosphere I find.

Shame people don’t have a decent taste in music now days 😂

I haven’t been to a concert with someone for over 20 years now, it’s never stopped me going, but I do almost everything on my own anyway.

Different for a Lady of course, I have seen quite a few single Ladies at Concerts, never seen them get any hassle.

I see bands by myself all the time. It doesn't bother me, I've been doing it since I was a school kid. It doesn't detract from the thrill or vibe of seeing a great band put on a show.

I went to a festival earlier on in the summer with my son, he abandoned me straight away and went of with his mates, for the first hour I thought this is going to be an awful 2 days. It wasn’t thou, I chatted to so many different people, danced with them. It ended up being absolutely brilliant.

I’d definitely go solo, especially if it’s a rare chance to see a band I like.

Mrs booked tickets to slaughter to prevail this year and had no idea what she’d actually done and got herself in for

I’d of still gone if she backed out

It wouldnt bother me going to a gig solo, but I've always enjoyed it more with company.

We've a few lined up. A big emo cover night next week (FOB, MCR, GD & LB), Punk Rock Factory later this year and just bagged tickets for 30 Seconds to Mars at the O2 next spring.

PRF will be fun as some swinger friends of ours are mates with the band and we've had t-shirts specially printed for the night.

Last one I went to was about 15 years ago, before smart phones were around and we all actually enjoyed the music, rather than holding a phone in the air trying to record the whole concert.......with guarantee that you'll probably never press play and watch it again.

Live music is a tonic for the soul. Gigs mean too much to me for me to miss out on them just because nobody else wanted to go.

I always buy two tickets. If my wife doesn’t want to join me, I offer it around friends. If there’s no takers, I go alone. And I still have a great time.

I've been to plenty of concerts on my own and i don't feel like I'm missing out. I'm there to enjoy the music and can do that easily on my own. Often you can end up making friends with the people you're next to anyway.

I watch groups of people at concerts with their back to the stage, and constantly going to the bar and missing half of it, and I think youse would have been better going to the pub.

Invariably I chat away to people there and I never feel lonely or like I'm standing out as being different.

I’ve been going to gigs and festivals on my own for years. Sometimes a friend comes with me but more often not.

I get to go to the gigs and festivals I want to go to and not have to worry about pleasing someone else because they don’t want to see that band or Artist etc….

It’s not a daunting as you think.

Being solo at these things is quite liberating and you often get to meet really interesting people who are equally there solo.

Coming up for the rest of this year I have single tickets for.

Death Cab for Cutie

Saint Etienne

Gene

Tunes in the Park

Little Orchard Cider Festival

"Unfortunately my taste in music is not shared by any of my good friends. I often see gigs id love to go to but no one to go with.

Anyone been to a gig on their own? Id have to travel to london, get a hotel etc that part wouldn't bother me so much but the actual gig might be a bit meh on my own. "

Ive done a few gigs on my own,and its pretty great!

Remember, everyone in the queue loves the band as much as you do(probably) GUARANTEE you'll soon get chatting and swapping stories. Go For It!!
