Do you prepare before you get paid your priorities?

Is the shopping list ready for when the dosh is in

Or do you think payday means takeaway

I pay my bills, and buy what I need. Not what I desire or covet. Because I desire very little and covet even less, I tend to live a simple life for which I am grateful.

I just buy whatever, whenever I want or need it. But paying any car related expense really annoys me. I know it’s just part of life that cars cost money to maintain but psychologically it still annoys me every single time 😆

I am fortunate enough not to be living paycheck to paycheck. I can buy what I want when I want.

My priority on payday is usually how much goes in savings.

I pay myself quarterly, so hopefully I never have to wait till payday 🤣

Should I say the accountant pays me - nobody is ever fully independent in this day an age 😐

Currently payday means bills snd paying off our holiday. I do like to treat myself though and have a few things I plan to buy to wear on holiday.

Most things I buy in bulk amounts, when on deals usually. Never run out of things,

Wages pay bills, then the rest save. Maybe percentage 30 spend-70 save. Depends.

I buy just what I need, when I need it. No credit, no debt (no assets either!) No monthly horrible direct debit things, I loath them. The money seems to look after itself.

Partially this

I make sure my bills are done then I do the monthly shop...toiletries and cleaning stuff ect fill the freezer then its just fresh stuff weekly.

This month's expense will be school uniform and a little 4 day break before school starts back

we are lucky that we have a lot of paydays between 2 salaries and 3 pensions so we don't really have to wait.

I mirror your ethos of living within one’s means but I can’t help but wonder if you’re attempting a humble brag here or if you genuinely do not use the direct debit scheme?

I can only assume you use a pay as you go SIM card for your phone but beyond that I’m baffled how you can pay for rolling subscriptions without them coming out month by month?

I apologise if I’m wrong but I feel it’s important to be honest if we’re offering to share our financial situation.

I pay my vehicle insurance, road tax annually. I have no subscriptions. My phone in no contract and does not auto renew. Others like Netflix, Spotify, Amazon, etc, are not left on auto renew, I let them lapse often and just restart them when I want them. So I may choose prime one month and now TV the next. A bit like here, I'll renew if I feel like it but it's not automatic. I should declare, I don't have household bills, I've lived in buses and vehicles for 18 years. So a lot of the monthly stuff doesn't apply.

I trust that meets the honesty barrier?

Thats certainly an interesting way to pay for those services… more expensive but it does allow you the freedom to leave without fulfilling any contract. My accountant has been chasing me since May to sit down and cut my subscriptions to a minimum… unfortunately I suffer from FOMO and daren’t cancel something I haven’t used in months “just in case”

I suspect the money I save outweighs the extra prices but it would be too tedious to check. I'd end up paying an accountant to do it

Haha yes I’m sure the saving wouldn’t be enough to buy a yacht haha luckily I’m not the one who pays his wage I doubt I’ll be able to afford a yacht if I ever do knock the subscriptions on the head

Invest 50% - Spend 40% - Charity 10%. Rinse and repeat. CC is good - top it up with Klarna - it becomes too good. All online shopping through Quidco - every little help, isn’t it?

Those who are a bit more sophisticated- check out Lombard loans - Google it. Such stuff isn’t covered by Martin Lewis.

We should be financially sound and have plenty of disposable income, however I'm a little irresponsible and have a penchant for classic cars, guitars and sex toys so my wages minus certain bills and a little walking around money gets transferred to luna to look after otherwise we would be bankrupt within a couple of months.

It's my one and only character flaw, other than that I'm practically perfect in every way

My direct debts are paid and my food shopping. I spend very little on myself.

My biggest expense at the moment is driving lessons for my son.

I dont owe any money and I dont have a credit card
