Worst Job Ever

Shortly after getting married back in late 80's money had never been tighter working in a factory for something like £65pw so jumped at chance when I was offered another job where a 4 hour over-time shift on a Saturday morning almost equalled what last job paid for 39.5 hours.

Down side to this was it was working at a fishing bait farm.

Seen and smelt stuff there that would make someone's eyes bleed.

Plus side wages were off the roof good.

A standard 40 hours would get you basic £526 which back then was damn good for an unskilled 22 year old male

I'd say early school holidays jobs in Kent which were unremitting hard physical labour (hop and fruit farms).

On the plus side they kept me skinny and hard as nails. Something I appreciate more now as a middle aged fat bastard than I did at the time.

When i was married and my son was a baby, i was at college

We needed the money and the only job I could get to fit in with my husband's hours and mine was cleaning men's factory toilets

It was a really unpleasant job but it was character building lol

Sounds pretty bad op.

Worst for me, was loading live chickens into baskets and then onto a lorry for a trip to the abatoir.

Smells were awful and it was seriously hard work. I think I lasted a week, possibly two weeks, before I left.

I mentioned this in another thread but people who clean toilets are among the most underappreciated but vital bits of societal glue. It's a shit job but the people who do it deserve respect and thanks. So you have mine.

Clerical officer. Everyone was unfriendly, unsociable, stuck up and dead miserable, and obsessed with political correctness.

Only ever had one job, but at a few different companies. Wages were abysmal as an apprentice, £9.45 pw, as a Fourth year apprentice they went up to £70pw. My younger brother starting wage training for the mines was £150 pw.

Civil service. Office full of people who had an easy time getting the job in their late teens and holding it for 20-30years, or their children.. A few who bully new starters to get their promotions

I think the worst job ever,

for me anyway been a bloke would have to be a gynecologist.

By time he finishes work and goes home to his wife and she is feeling frisky but he sick of the sight of womens vaginas. 🤣

When I was at university I worked for unigate the milk people. Now my job was not so bad I had to test the quality of the milk. There was a problem on the Tesco line with the foil seals and one guy had to squeeze every single plastic bottle that went past him! If the seal was bad the milk would come out and cover him! It was depressing to watch him!

MrsA worst job was as a dish washer in a restaurant kitchen.. paid £2 an hour, even on weekends and peak hours. The smells of half eaten meals, burning from the kitchens, unbearable heat.

6 months after she quit, the restaurant burnt to the ground.
