What age do they usually occur? My little boy is four in a few weeks, he been waking the pass few night crying and in pain but complaining of pains in his shins and feet.
My older children didn't seem to suffer with them.
As a child I suffered really bad and for many years.
What are your memories or experience of them? |

I never suffered with growing pains or knew anyone that had, but my eldest is 12 and has suffered really bad the last few months 
She was in agony on and off and you feel helpless cos there is nothing you can to for them  |

If it continues take him to the doc. Kids run and jump about all the time and he may have pulled something or more so it wouldn't harm to get it checked if it continues. |

Think it depends on the child my lad is 24 now but think he was about 6 or so was complaining of pain in his hip to whitch me an his mum put down to growing pains but after a week or 2 we took him to the drs expecting him to say it was nothing but much to our surprise an I might add embarrassment he told us to go strate to A and E it turned out he had fluid on his hips commen in young boys apparently he spent 3 weeks in trackshen cant tell you how crap we felt as we put it down to nothing so my advice get it checked out hopefully its nothing but posibly somthing |

I thought that at first as my daughter is very sporty and dances, doctor said if its a pulled muscle or sprain it won't come and go, the pain will always be there. |

Yes but he has only complained during the night , but maybe a little young for it to be growing pains |

I remember getting them quite young but I always had a fever and migraine too. They stopped when I was 12 (not the migraines though) - which is about when I stopped growing.
If the doctor can't find anything find an osteopath who does children. |

Both my boys have been through the 'my leg hurts' phase, usually when I'm asking them to do something though!
With the eldest I didn't know better so took him to the doctors and she found nothing wrong and said it could be growing pains but I just think he was pulling a fast one as he didn't complain much after that! |

My boy gets growing pains. He's 4. We've actually seen a paediatrician about it now as he's very big for his age (has come down to the 98th centile on the charts now - he was off the chart for months). If in doubt, see your gp! |
