I really wish all these poxy Hollywood companies desperate for money would just leave classics alone.

I even heard rumours of a remake of reservoir dogs. Why? Just leave it alone!

Dont know which studio is responsible for this one...

But maybe its worth checking to see if it is one of the ones Sony snapped up...

If it is the reason is simple: Its cheaper (and better business) to remake a scrip they already own and know has already been a blockbuster, than to buy the film rights to a book, commission a new script and hope it will be a moneymaker...

They have done the same with the music industry and killed that too!

Or am I just a cynical old git?

yeah. It was dull. Least they made him silver again by the end. Good they used the music. But the more orchestral version from the original was better. Still. You could have watched robocop 3. Lol

I agree!! wanted to watch the robo remake since it came out, and was dubious when i saw it was a PG12 (or 13.. whatever.)

I should have stuck with my gut instinct there. it was shiiiiiiiiite.

Remakes can be more true to the story than the oldies and sometimes even better, a prime example would be judge dread. But in this case robocop was trying too hard to impress haha.

Try watching the old robocop then compare. I thought the old one was a class film as memory serves. What a pile or crap now. New one not brilliant. Mobutu nit that bad either. Now a really really bad re make

Willy wonka and the chocolate factory

Now gene wilders version is class and can watch over and over with or with out the kids. Tim burton seems to ruin quiet a lot of re makes and willy wonka is way up on that list. But hey that's just my opinion.

Disagree. Dredd was a brilliant film

True Dredd fans will know they got the character spot on this time. Not the Disney character stallone created in the 80's version.

The revamps are more darker than the comic versions played by Toby McGuire, personally I do prefer the new ones. Oh, morning by the way x

Dredd was awesome. Everything Stallone's pile of piss wasn't. The look and feel of the comic as close as they could get without making it a total green screen fest. Only a shame that there's no sequel planned.

That's on purpose though, as the Christopher Reeve version of Superman is from a different set of comic books than the new one.

Here's a story about Spiderman...

Marvel was skint so sold rights to Spiderman to SONY, with a clause saying that a film has to come out every 5 years or Marvel will reclaim the rights back.

Now Marvel is owned by Disney, you bet that the lawyers will be watching this like a hawk.

Come on, if you thought the remake was gonna be like the original, then you're deluded.

The 80s were a different place. Now it's all about bums on seats. 12a gets all ages going to see it.

The remake was ok. Not great, but ok. It could've been far worse. And the ED-209 battles were way better.

Spidey got remade because Sam Rami wanted to do Spidey 4 one way and the studio didn't like it. Plus, Tobey made an awful Parker. And they ruined Venom.

Dredd was ace. And he never took the helmet off. That's one of the main things that fucked Slys film (granted it's on the list of many)

One of the better remakes of late is Evil Dead. Yes the comedy was gone but I'm not so sure it'd work now.

Won't happen. There's gonna be at least another 3. They've got the sinister 6 to do (as shown on asm2) yet.
