Loved the movie, thought it was well acted and very similar to the 1st book, Mr Grey could have been a little darker( personality wise) other than that it gets a Thumbs Up from us, hubby liked it too. XxxxxxX

It would be similar to the first book as that's what it's based on.

Well acted.. I don't agree, shit acting, shit film.

I haven't seen the film but that shouldn't stop me from being hyper critical and putting it down simply because I can't stand the fact that I didn't write that appalling fucking book and have it turned into celluloid ........ celluloid ? fuck me ..... what is it these days ? digits ?

Anyway ...... I want her money.

I think the bloke that takes the lead is creepy in reality.....yak.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, I think thousands of people have. .

I often see a film adaptation of a book and wonder if they read the book at all so it's good to hear its faithful to the original.

Haven't read the book.... But I hate it.

Haven't seen the film....but it's rubbish.

It doesn't represent real BDSM.... but it's not my thing anyway.

I won't enjoy anything about 50 shades and anyone else who does had something wrong with them.

I'm a miserable bastard.

There, think we have covered all the options.

J read the book, found she had a interest in the scene. Meet me R, within 6 months we ran our own BDSM event.

The book kick started j on a journey of self discovery. We all have to start somewhere.

I'll watch the film if it ever gets shown on telly or DVD but I never go to the cinema so it's unlikely I'll see it before then. I'm more likely to want to see something the more often people say it's rubbish, but I'm a contrary old bag

I had to endure it over the weekend. Having read the book I wasn't too disappointed at how crap the film was. Mrs Kinky enjoyed it and thought Mr Grey was dreamy. I like Anastasia's tits.

I had planned some kink to keep us amused during the evening so all in all it was a good night out.

Haven't read the books but saw the film last night - thought it was crap.

Not down to the plot - pretty much the entire world knows that from all the media coverage - more the shockingly bad acting of Mr Dornan. He was wooden, had a constant snarly smirk on his face regardless of whether he was meant to be serious, moody, 'mysterious', dominant (lol) and even when he was meant to be troubled.

It was 'mummy porn' - suited the audience, 95% of which were female ranging from 18-80. You could also tell plenty hadn't read the books as at the end there were several cries of 'WTF' and 'is that it?'.

I wasn't disappointed - I didn't expect it to be any different. There will be plenty who love it though.

For the reason the poster below you gave hun - as 'fab' has 'officially' decided it's uncool to like it! Not seen the film but the book was ok!

I can see how it will garner an interest in bdsm, but not sure how it will bring more people into mainstream swinging as many have suggested, as the two main characters are still in a monagomous relationship, albeit a dom/sub one!

Found this on a well known bdsm site

First and foremost, write about it. 'Tis the hot topic and even if you can only manage '50 SHADES I CAN TYPING LOL', someone will read it.

Choose a provocative title, as tenuously linked to the actual content as possible. 'How 50 Shades alters the place of BDSM and fetish in a wider socio-anthropological context' won't get nearly as many clicks as 'Why 50 Shades is actually a Southern plot to win the 2nd war of independence. Using watermelon.'

Choose the most adversarial and convoluted point of view you can. An undertone of 'Ha, none of the rest of you thought of THAT, did you!' is preferable.

If writing on the subject of new people coming to the scene via 50 Shades, devote most of your writing to how accepting, tolerant, and generally better than everyone else at interacting with those people you are going to be.

If you have read the books or seen the film, repeatedly mention how this is the only circumstances under which one should offer an opinion on the subject.

If you haven't read the books or seen the film, repeatedly explain how you don't need to do so to comment on the ramifications for the BDSM scene.

Don't forget that this your chance to subtly point out to everyone what a connoisseur of literature you are. Casually mentioning that the books are poorly written is a safe play, or if you're feeling particularly hipsterish, you can take the 'they're not necessarily poorly written, but have suffered from bad editing' approach.

Be suitably horrified by the merchandising and references in popular culture that have come with the film, and the inevitable doom that awaits the scene as a result.

...or loudly decry all who think this is a bad thing, because they don't want to move with the times and anything that informs the public that the kink community exists is a good thing, which they can't see because they're wrong. Wrong wrong wrong.

Always sum up with a reminder that everyone is allowed to like or hate 50 Shades and should form their own opinion of it. Especially if you said you hated it, it will make you look thoughtful.

Isn't the rule of cool to go against the norm? If the accepted view is that it's crap....I might start liking it for cool points....is that how it works? Can someone help? I'd like to be cool too but i'm confused by the process!

" Loved the movie, thought it was well acted and very similar to the 1st book, Mr Grey could have been a little darker( personality wise) other than that it gets a Thumbs Up from us, hubby liked it too. XxxxxxX

Darker than stalking her and performing acts that she didn't consent to?"

To be fair in the film they did make him less creepy and again in the film she consented to everything.

The land of grey peas and bacon

Girls from work watched it and said he came across as a stalker I haven't watched the film but it was funny hearing a vanilla perspective of the film.

Well acted.. I don't agree, shit acting, shit film.

Thought we had heard the last of it

Well never hear the last of it, from now on there will always be wanna be 'Mr greys'

I wonder why the people who find it so awful keep reading the threads about it.

I'm nosey and like to point out it's shit!"

Have been inundated on social media with people going oooo going to see 50 shades with any manner of pervy leering faces. I personally hate the books, I am on the side of it being abuse rather than kink. However it does amuse me that a number of people will now be thinking they are kinky after watching the film. Each to their own! And like a post said up thread, you've got to start somewhere!

"Haven't read the books but saw the film last night - thought it was crap.

Been to see it tonight and after reading the books it followed nicely, the way he tied her up etc made it a little more real for me, however hearing thd discussions in the toilets after of 'why' and 'would you?' Made me smile x

Yes even the 'beating' that made her freak out she asked for it.

Loved the books. Turned me on massively. Haven't seen the film.

Makes me laugh how people slag it off when in the "swinging" world they are actually quite vanilla... Just because you take it up the arse, doesn't mean you are some sort of sex goddess.

True control is about thoughts.. Not ties, whips and chains.
