That code will be for your windows operating system rather than office.

"i bought it near a year ago dont even remember a disc. it already had the microsoft loaded in it.. god i hate computers "

The programs may already have been installed, but it will still have come with the disc incase you remove the programme by accident for example...

Codes will definitely be on the disc, you just have to remember where you put them! lol

Probably true but some LT's don’t come even with the disk.

I will have paperwork with a fancy printed license giving the number when you go it, but where's it now?

Still if you get 'really' stuck I may be able to help.

If it came pre-installed with no disks, then there should be a recovery program installed.

A section of your hard drive will have been partioned with the OS and other software backed up onto it.

If its a Dell, there will be something like a Dell Recovery program. Try running that. This isn't the Windows Restore program, its totally seperate to that.

You could try e-mailing microsoft themselves.. Its a legit copy so they will help!

In the good old days you could unlock MicroPoop software by entering eleven 1's into the Registration Key box but they got wise to that, wankers.

Nowadays, I just download a crack from an obscure Russian website. I don't regard it as taking money away from M.P. as I'd never pay the extortionate prices they charge for it anyway.

If they want to combat software piracy they need to do what Intel did when computers were being raided for their RAM sticks - bring the bloody prices down!!

Are you sure that the microsoft programmes that you have are not trial versions that you can only use for a limited number of times before you have to buy them? Our laptop came with them on it but we loaded on our existing Microsoft programmes and so we dont use the ones that came "free".Not on the laptop at moment but I think you have to contact microsoft(there may be a link under help on the tab on the programme you are trying to use)to obtain the product key for that programme but I suspect you will have to pay for it!!!

Hope this helps?

It seems that almost every manufacturer does it differently these days. Some put product keys on the paper envelope with the office disk, which you should have got when you bought it. Some put it on a sticker go the manual.

Try hitting whichever f key is needed to go to the boot menu when it starts up (maybe f1 or f8). That will let you boot using recovery mode which might re-install office that way.

It was largely due to all this cocking about that i started using ubuntu linux instead of windows.

There is another program that you may want to consider that is compatible with most Office-based applications.

OpenOffice.org is free and all the MS Office file extensions are supported.

Hope this helps,

Wishy.

I recomend diskeeper for a third party defray tool brilliant so fast reliable.Microsoft apps id software slow your machine down diskeeper works in background aswell so set it forget about it LOL.office has key on main disc if new laptop not all companys distribute discs as theres a shadow drive in vista that records everything .You could go to laps own recovery not normal one and reinstall software .Then again it could be a trial product you have office takes up far to much space try an open sourse office which has all functions of microsoft office then install (open office ) you'll find it at open office .org if I recollect it was created by programmers that believe software is too expensive and after buying a pricey computer why should we pay heaps more for apps it's used world wide including Asian side of globe for people and kids at school that can't afford .Need any more help just pm oh before I forget did I see someone had problem with there HD aswell k take care swingers
