Male armpit hair and shaving it

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

I did something for the first time yesterday, shaved my armpits!

Why?

It's all down to why we have it in the first place.

It harps back to when we were effectively cavemen, we trapped bacteria and pheromones in our armpits to attract mates, as did the women, which is why they have it too.

It it more hygienic and much easier to keep fresh and clean, now we no longer need it to attract a mate.

So why have it?

It looks messy as well!

Does anyone else feel this way?

do many men shave it?

Does anyone like it on men or women?

Brighton - even Hove!

I trimmed mine because I saw a guy on the beach who had done it so I shamelessly copied.

Shave my armpits?

No I'm a bloke.

I didn't shave, I trimmed. When I stood with my arms down I had hair sticking out. But any more - a much sleeker and panther like profile

I shave my armpits, feels and smells fresh all the time, no point in having hairs under there anyway

I shower twice a day, but have noticed feeling fresher without armpit hair.

And for everyone saying "be a man and leave it" then you should allow facial hair, pubic hair, ear hair, nose hair and eyebrows to grow.

Acceptable grooming practices change as time goes by, that's why there's now a big market in male grooming products that didn't exist 15-20 years ago.

If it makes you feel good then go for it.

Shaving hair unless medically advised is not more hygienic. Stop stating this myth as fact.

Trimmed under arm hair is great.. Shaved is not necessary but still good.

I don't have an issue with hairy men but would support those who do trim/shave

I'm straight and I trim mine. It just looks better kept neat rather than an untidy bush.

I love male armpit hair and would be disappointed if there was none. It's less hygienic to shave, so keep it and ensure you're always appropriately washed.
