many elderly people have been duped into thinking they are being called by genuine IT support.

Very often your can tell by the number that they are a scam. Well at least I can, I have no overseas relatives.
A friend of mine when asked if Mr ..... was on the line, used to say 'No, he's out in the garden. I'll just get him for you.' The longest he had someone hanging on for was just shy of 30 minutes.
Which was fine until some of them used to reverse the charges, somehow. |
