Are women becoming a pain?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

A female sports presenter was awarded £40 million for being videod in secret. There is a call for period leave. Whenever the news wants to talk to an expert or spokesperson, its a female. The football final score has seen an influx of female reporters. Adverts on tv are anti-men.

Are women getting away with murder nowadays and just becoming a bit of a pain?

I would have loved period pain leave, omg my periods made me feel like crap before i had kids and so tired.

Just because women put up with shit doesn't mean they should.

Yes women are becoming a pain by not shutting up and putting up with things, tough titties.

All these nasty, nasty women coming over here and taking away all the jobs and the women

As the earlier poster wrote, a happy International Women's Day to you too. This is where we set up stalls and invited every man we could lay our hands on so that they could see for themselves that all we desire is to stand hand-in-hand with them as equals, not superiors

I can't see a problem with any of the examples you've given except the anti-men adverts I think being anti any gender is wrong. I don't think your other examples illustrate that women are becoming a pain though, could you explain why you think that?

Then there's the ex-Chelsea team doctor, Dr.Carneiro who has gone to court because Mourinho shouted at her!! She'll probably get awarded millions.

And the QC who, after she had accepted a caution for indecent behaviour with another QC in public, later put in an accusation of sexual assault so that she could remain anonymous.

And your point is? Do we all just start listing large legal settlements people have received because I don't see how gender is in any way relevant?

But seriously, I am not a feminist. I actually do not like the stance they take. Half of them don't even know what they are 'fighting' about now

Gender equality has come a long way from my mother's days. Even in my day, in my Internship with a computer manufacturer, the dress code was quite strict and when meeting external suppliers, contractors or clients, we had to wear dark skirt suits

I guess I was always a bit of a rebel. I turned up at work one such morning wearing a trouser suit. I am not going to say here but I still remember my manager's name. He called me in his office and asked me if I had understood the dress code correctly. After which he asked me to take an day as vacation out of my entitlement and go home

Such a thing just could not happen today in this country. But there are still so many things which irritate me. I don't automatically lash out at the men. Not all of them want this either as now we are all wage-earners and where there are couples, they both feel the negative impact

Nice post Josie, and fair play for standing up for what you believe it, doubt I could do similar. One of life's little ironies, that makes me smile anyway, is that so many of the women I know could teach a lot of the guys I know a thing or two about 'balls'. Not trying to be a white knight, just saying it as I see it.

Isn't a tad troublesome though, that so many are women are reluctant to describe themselves as feminists? Women often fall over themselves to describe themselves as anything but feminists, as if being described as such somehow makes them out to be a hairy, man-hating, angry lesbian?

Genuinely wondering why any rational woman wouldn't consider themselves a feminist, when the world is clearly set against them? (For what it's worth, I think the world is set against men too, albeit to a much lesser extent).

I believe in what the original Feminist movement represented. Women, much braver than me, stood up and fought for rights which, I am now enjoying. I lost one day of vacation but at least I had the opportunity to have a half decent career afterwards

In my _iew, the present day Feminist movement is a bit like the present day Gay movement; it is looking for a cause

I prefer to join up in those activities which also include men. I don't see this as an 'us' and 'them' but a symbiotic 'relationship'

This morning, the International Women's Day was a day of Gender equality. We had almost as many men attend, as women. Yes, there were some stalls which dealt specifically with women's issues like FGM and Domestic Violence (although men, in heterosexual relationships, too are affected by this). But by and large, the event was to mark Gender Equality and not Women's Rights; there is a subtle difference between the two. And we also got to play with a lot of cosmetics too. Silly, I know but in the final analysis, this is not about changing women into men or men into women. We each have our own place and no, a woman's place is not in the Kitchen. It is in the Boardroom or on the battlefield, alongside the men

But most men don't seem to give a shit so it continues. "

I think you are correct. And that is just as bad

Men are sometimes portrayed as stupid and as almost a redundant sex. But then again, women were portrayed as simpletons, weak and existing to serve their husbands

We will do better if we treated each other with respect. However, right now, women still are the underclass. Women still have violence directed at them. We have to take career breaks to have children and then get penalised for it. It is as if it is our fault for having children

I would like to see a day when men can have children and have to take career breaks. I wonder how they would feel when we spout nonsense about their 'unreliability'

Misandry is not acceptable. But what misandry does exist gets used as a convenient stick to once again beat women down with. I don't think that the majority of feminists are anti-men at all.

I remember the posts on international man's day last November, and there weren't many replies at all. All these downtrodden and excluded men who are bleating on about the unfairness of a day designed to celebrate women's progress and press for me went all quiet on the day that is actually designed to raise awareness of men's issues.

Indeed.

Look at the claim on the Women's Day thread that the "real issue" is the parental rights of men!

And by a t-girl!

I don't think I've ever seen a thread about International Women's Day or women's issues that nobody has tried to make all about men and their issues.

Apparently if men were never, ever treated unequally and never, ever discriminated against, it would help the cause of women seeking equality

Clearly a very brave (or foolhardy) OP!

As regards Erin Andrews, the U.S news reporter who recently received a large award in a civil lawsuit, the United States has always awarded extraordinarily large sums of money to victorious litigants. It has little, possibly nothing, to do with her gender.

"A female sports presenter was awarded £40 million for being videod in secret. There is a call for period leave. Whenever the news wants to talk to an expert or spokesperson, its a female. The football final score has seen an influx of female reporters. Adverts on tv are anti-men.

Are women getting away with murder nowadays and just becoming a bit of a pain?"

Ok well this is a great subject to talk about, especially given the day! I am a tad concerned about the question you ask seeing that we are directed 2 choose one of the two unacceptable beliefs that you hold. So:

*women are not getting away with murder no, just because the media has decided to portray that there there seems to be a big influx of women news reporters, or the media highlighting a sensitive subject such as period leave (that is sure to hit a mans nerve) or even these anti men adverts u refer to. These are media portrayls which are RENOWN for misconstrewing ideals, and just generally trying to piss people off.

*are women becoming a bit of a pain? Well, again, no. Im afraid that while you succum 2 the media potrays, listen to bias news reports, and make your own stereotypical judgments, then u will always assume that women are becoming a pain. Yeah, period leave is a sensitive subject as it is emotive for men as they think that women will have time up 2 put their feet up, but thats the difference between men and women, and the difference to each and every one of us humans, is that we cannot feel or completly understand whats the other is feeling, thing etc etc. There is emphathy, and regard for one another, but im afraid that this guy who posted this, lacks this _iew.

Its _iew points like this one, and negative stereotypes that causes further divide and unrest between gender groups.

Hope u enjoyed my thesis

By the way, there isn't "a call" for period leave. One company was in the press last week for instating a policy around period leave, which involved women being able to make up the time another day. Which means it's not really "leave" at all anyway.

Most of the reaction I've seen from women to that was that they didn't particularly want some sort of period related special treatment but agreed more flexible working for men and women would be a way to help everyone.

A real damning indictment, that.

"There's one thing that women hate more than men and that's other women."

I don't hate men or women. Except a select few who have done something to deserve it. If anything I think I see far more posts on these forums, comments in the outside world and on other forms of social media that really reek of men's resentment and hatred of women than the other way round. Of course it's possible that I notice them more, but I really don't believe that what you think is actually the case. Most of the problems men keep coming back to - not getting access to children, being taken for a ride by women who don't work - are of their own making, because if they'd just kept it wrapped until they were sure their partner wasn't a psycho or held out for a woman with a career of her own then they wouldn't be in the situations they're so bitter about.

You think? I would swap the perks of being a man for the supposed perks of being a woman.

There may well be some women who have power over men. That's only because men allow them to have that power, it's their own fault entirely. If you would allow yourself to be manipulated by an attractive woman because you wanted to have sex with her, more fool you.

some women have a lot of power over men.maybe you have to be an attractive woman tho..if your fat and ugly i guess u dont have any

just because men earn more ...so is it all about money ? ..i'd gladly swap my well paid job/ high wages/gender .

and life would be much nicer

"

Being fat and ugly, the only option available to me was to acquire a decent education and work harder. I am still 20% worse-off. And it is about unfairness in just about every other sphere of life too. It is not as bad as it used to be but why must I be expected to put up with any kind of disparity

I guess the next step will have to be liposuction and cosmetic surgery

I wish we could swap gender. However, I get a feeling that within a year, you'll be demanding your gender back from me

I do use my fanny to stir tea, get a better grip on the handle. It's fairly common round this way where us women are women and men are men.

Male Chauvinist Pigs are very real. And I really don't want them anywhere near me

I want a real man who shows me some respect and doesn't think that his knowledge of blonde bimbo jokes makes him an alpha-male

All the men who I have ended up respecting are real men. They have their own opinions but they also want me to share my opinions with them and argue my case

Who let you all out of the kitchen? Come on guys I thought times had changed, where all equal regardless of gender, race and religion. Anyone who says or thinks otherwise is a moron in my eyes. Theirs no man's work or woman's work....just put it this way these so called man jobs....I'm pretty sure that not all men would be able to do it and I'm also pretty sure some but not all woman could and vise versa. Theirs always going to be a select few that abuse their position as a woman or man or of a specific race or gender who will use this as a way of screwing someone over. So let's not generalise about people?

You'll be waiting a long time for that to happen.

Another annoying aspect of today is when females win just because they are female. For example the recent reality show where a group of people were trained by special services like the SAS. I could have told you that out of the three final people, two males and one female, that they'd let the female have the token win.

I'm new to this thread, although not the topic which seems to crop up at regular intervals.

I'm only commenting on the final point (to do otherwise only gets me more enemies).

I watched that SAS programme and there is no way that she won as a token female. Get some glasses on and watch it again.

the guys who ran that programme, set the tasks and assessed the candidates are not the type to be told by anyone that so and so must win because they are a token..

its not in their mindset, they will after the series have gone back to working in their chosen field and in that arena being a lap dog who accepts such as you suggest will not stand them in good stead..

so on that your wrong i would suggest..

I can only find evidence of _iewers complaining, because that's traditionally seen as the "junior" seat. And one article by Anne Diamond. Suppose it's the TV news equivalent of a new female boss getting a shit office while her junior gets the corner office with the _iews.

They've got a point, IMO, but it's hardly the hoardes complaining in the way you're suggesting.
