Central

Do you remember when food prices were hiked, due to the large rises in transport costs?

Now fuel is cheap, are we getting redress?

Similarly, isn't it about time that fuel surcharges on flight ticket prices were scrapped? Or at least charged at an appropriate cost.

How does the shafting of consumers compare to the typical single guy here?

If you look over the past 5 years or so, statistically the price of food has decreased. Even taken over the last 10. It may not feel like it and I don't think there's been a sudden drop, more a gradual reduction. Sometimes when people complain about the price of food it's down to the products they're actually choosing to buy. If you want strawberries in December, for example, they're going to cost you a lot more than in July. Generally speaking, we can all eat for less than we did a few years ago.

I remember when supermarkets doubled the price of food, it went back down to the original prices pretty quickly though. Iceland (my main shop) put 50% more food in packages and kept the doubled prices.
