Saw a good deal for an iPhone online and bought it but when I turned it on it said I need the original persons iCloud details to work the thing. Tried emailing the seller and no response does anyone on here have any idea what I could do to get it to work? |

its been stolen or they have said lost and claimed for new
as it should be all unlocked, i would contact paypal urgently to have them freeze the money under ebay protection |

Never thought of that hopefully it's not to late I was reading up on it and it seems pretty common. When you reset the phone it asks for original owners details and that's where I'm stuck. Hopefully I can get my cash back or I've just bought myself a really nice paper weight |

It's part of Apple's restrictive policies - a woman left her phone to her son in her will, and they were as difficult to deal with as you can imagine. The death certificate, will etc were sent to Apple but they refused, until BBC intervened (another use for BBCs).
If it's a stolen phone then it would not work here, but a central register lists them all. It's likely just apple's account restrictions.
I think it's just going to have to be a case of searching the internet for ways to overcome it. A seller would not necessarily know that such a problem could occur once sold though - it's a manufacturers restriction. |

Most genuine resellers of second hand phones will unlock and "clean" them.
So this might be " hookey".
However, if it is genuine; then ( on the assumption that you kniwvthevprovider the phonemes with ( Vodafone, EE, whatever) they should be able to unlock it ( probably for a fee.)
If you search, there are ways of unlocking and factory resetting.

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do.... If the person has left it connected to their iCloud account (find my iPhone) you will not be able to access the phone at all. The orig owner will need to de authorise it from their account.... (FBI trying to get apple to give them hack for a terrorists phone at mo....apple say no)
As someone said contact paypal or EBay and get money back... |
