"Hope the boxer Nick Blackwell pulls through, saw the fight on tv and maybe the ref should have stopped it earlier."
Personally I think his team should have thrown the towel in, they know him better than anyone else. Blackwell was still throwing shots so the ref see's that as him being willing and able to carry on. I hope he pulls through, I really do! |

I don't really get watching any sport, punching someone isn't a sport, it's violence.
Why not just have competitions where people can punch dummies and the best one wins?
Also hope the guy is ok. |

just watched the fight today.... and absoilutely agree the kid was too brave for his own good... he was so far down on points and the corner should have pulled him out for his own good...
in a way i actually prefer watching MMA these day, so as physical it is, its a mile safer and these sorts of incidents don't happen in MMA |

I saw that on the news today...telling him to go for body shots because in their mind the fight should of already been stopped. |

This is because he did the same thing during his career to michael watson. Chris Eubank never recovered from that and didn't wanna see his son go through the same thing.
For all the arrogance and cockiness I thought this was quite admiral.
Coincidentally the same neurosurgeon that saved Michael Watson has said Nicky Blackwell won't box again. |

I think round 3 would have been far too early, round 7 was the clincher for me, Blackwell took a serious pounding but he fought his way out of it so I don't think anyone can blame the ref for not stopping it then. Blackwell has the heart of a lion, he doesn't know the meaning of backing down, but I think this was his last ever fight. Last update I saw was that the docs weren't planning any surgery, to me that's a good thing, the induced coma is precautionary (I hope). |

Winners don't quit.
Sadly, in boxing there are the guys who don't know they are beaten and when to quit. The ref or his corner should have stopped the fight earlier.
I watched the fight last night and the upper cuts he was taking were brutal. I hope the guy pulls through. I love boxing and hate to see this happen. |

Unless your the Incredible hulk your not 100% safe from any hard blows to the body and certainly more so to the head, I just hope this young man pulls through ok. |

Luckily much has changed for the better since the Eubank v Watson fight. There are now medical crews in attendance throughout the night and it appears that Blackwell received speedy enough treatment that no lasting damage was done.
Referees do get stick for early stoppages but their primary job is the safety of the contestants and it's far better a too early Stoppage Than too late |
