Who on here is living the good life?
Considering early retirement, no financial issues but living in a house which is far too big for my needs,
Always wanted to downsize, swap a large home for a small home with many acres of land, planting & growing own food, chickens, just living off the land
I am sure some on here must be enjoying this lifestyle, any tips, types of soil, machinery, complications
How have you dealt with troubles the "Good Life" brings |

One major consideration is will you butcher your own animals or outsource, that's an expense often overlooked.
Will you have enough money to cover utility bills, machinery repair and replacement, will anyone be able to step in if you fall ill, have you got a contingency plan if most of what you grow one year fails?
We never did go down this route but did look into it at one point.

Thought about but thought about to long and never did, wish now I had a lest given it a good go but life just seams to take over and before you know it it's to late, |

I have always wanted to keep a few chickens but living in Bristol not really an option as I don't think the peeps either side of me would appreciate them LoL |

my daughters friends call our home a dolls house so i couldnt down size anymore if i tried - pre kids me and the ex used to have an allotment and grew so much stufff - never went near a jar of pickle or sauce as i used to make all my own - green tomato chutney is to die for - |

I have been gralloching for years and know what t look for in glands***

The trouble is trying to sell a pricy home, especially as stamp duty is 10% which puts at least an extra £50k on top of your selling price |

You'll be ok on that score then, we used to get my dad to do it.
I don't know what the housing markets like in Scotland but we struggled to sell our house last year and it was of considerably less value than yours. |

not made it for years - recipe had sultana apple and ginger in it - the colour looked gross but bloody delicious |
