Yesss, I always get sidetracked looking up a definition then going down some etymological rabbit hole. I do like learning languages though, especially when they tie in with other ones in weird ways.

There's a good site for language learning called memrise.com (not sure if i'm allowed to mention other sites though). It's a little different from ones like duo lingo, it works around establishing words you have difficulty with as memory. You might like it!

FYI Brewer's do a few fascinating books. The one on Rogues, Villains and Eccentrics was the first I bought. I loved it. The most recent one I have is the Cabinet of Curiosities which is just nice to pick up and read without having to devote yourself to it. Myth and Legend one is also very good, but a follow on from the Phrase and Fable. Just buy them all.

I make cosplay weapons and am now venturing into outfits, I made a set of 3D manoeuvre gear from attack on Titan, and took it to comic con, a guy who owns a shop offered me a grand for them because they were so detailed, and I'm currently working on the master chiefs helmet from halo, it looks great and I'm considering making the whole outfit for comic con in November.

I also converted an old wardrobe for a young friend of my mine who has been ill with problems related to his Down's syndrome, he now has a large tardis in his bedroom, that is directly in front of his built in cupboard, it's literally bigger on the inside, it makes him happy though

Similar, but usually takes place in some fantasy setting and has a storyline affected by player choices rather than a historical recreation with rigid roles.

Exactly! I don't larp myself, but I do play D&D. And Dark Heresy. And a slew of obnoxiously niche board games. There's one I dream of playing called Twilight Imperium that's like an intergalactic United Nations full of scheming bastards and is eighteen hours long...

You probably won't get one.

I wrote to them several years ago complaining about the number of rubber bands that they were discarding on my driveway and how they were a threat to my dogs health/life. Didn't get a reply and I'm still picking up their bloody red bands!

"I do LRP (live-action role playing) - the nerdiest of nerd hobbies.

Correct me if I'm wrong but that's like medieval reenactments and such?

Similar, but usually takes place in some fantasy setting and has a storyline affected by player choices rather than a historical recreation with rigid roles.

So sort of like Dungeons and Dragons but in real life not on a board?

Exactly so. You get to dress like you're in Game of Thrones, and go around acting in your own TV show.

It's ace!

I get too with work though it's like a cross between 'it ain't half hot mum' and Monty Python at my work sometimes "

Lol. What do you do?!

I have a friend those job is living history (he plays the historical characters at Hampton Court etc) and he still loves it because he gets to control the story.

I also do futuristic sci fi ones set in space (like one based on the Firefly/ Serenity universe, if you know that.)

Newcastle and Gateshead

i love college sports (college football and college basketball) more than the professional stuff (the NFL and the NBA)

i try explaining to people that americans are way more attached to the university they went to than it seems in the uk.... there is a sense of pride....

i have tried explaining this to friends and why they can never watch michigan state vs michigan games with me....

i think the only person who would truely understand on here would be courtney...... the rest of you give me this look...

If you really are interested, there's always time. I have a number of LRP buddies in the army. A couple are even officers.
