I am shortish, curvy and podgy. Height, shape and size. Not all the same thing. To use an analogy I have used before, violins, violas, cellos and double basses are all the same basic curvy shape. It's just that the ratios of the proportions differ as the sizes change.

Hi OP

Why does it matter to YOU how other people describe themselves? Surely public pictures (I note you have none, yet you describe yourself as a athletic), will help YOU decide whether that person fits your definition of curvy.

Deciding what body shape you are when building your fab profile can be quite telling in a number of ways; it can say a lot about someone's self confidence, self esteem or personal perception.

Considering those that have the confidence and some might say bravery, to put themselves "out there" by having public pics is a huge step regardless of size. Shouldn't mean it's open season to challenge someone's self perception and furthermore "knocking" someone, regardless of their size about their perception is a little crass.

We are who we are and people will like or dislike us based upon that; but each individual has an opinion and their own definition...why "call out" certain groups because they don't match your definition?

The old phrase in cases like this is "put up or......"(you can guess the rest)

I put ample once and other people said I was smaller than they expected so went back to curvy.

I have an hour glass figure which apparently is curvy if you have a small waist big hips and a big bum but slim legs and a big bust they are curves surely regardless of size.

Take a look at pics if not your thing move on I guess.

Why use attack as a form of defence. Calling people names is like being in the school playground. Then you don't get your point across as being valid.

"I am prob ample or large but I don't like those words as a discription. And I don't think I qualify for fabulous (yet). So I discribe myself a curvy.....your problem is?"

His problem is men vary massively in what body shapes and sizes they find attractive and as wimen who are very large have been know to describe themselves as athletic and vice versa a lot of both parties time gets wasted as people who are not a match are going through the process. So he has a very valid point. He's not saying how people should feel about their size he is saying an accurate representation would be better. Dress sizes would be better than wildly misinterpreted adjectives.

Dress sizes are misleading. I'm a size 18, the dress I have on in my pic is a size 18. Someone who is 5ft 10 say and an 18 will look a lot different to someone of 5ft 4 and an 18. Have some body shots then someone can decide from them, simple as.

I agree wholeheartedly with you - but have to say this is not confined to women! A huge number of people- both men and women - on the site look a lot bigger or older than their pictures when you see them in the flesh - but then I think it's a similar story on traditional dating sites too! A LOT of bullshit goes on!!

Yes I think it would be easier if women gave their height and dress size - and men gave their chest and waist measurements - but let's face it - a lot of people would lie about that too!!

Personally I think that's a load of old tosh too. For example Peach; you, I and FQ all pretty much wear a ten but we are totally differently proportioned. I think labelling people is utterly pointless and runs into generalisation and unnecessary rudeness, lamppost pissing and one upmanship.

Be who you are, embrace it. Let others be who they are, don't judge.

In all fairness - like most topics on the forums but this one in particular - it's one of those 'You can't please all of the people all of the time' situations - some will disagree with your self description whatever you put - so the only answer with the current system is to put what you genuinely feel describes your body type and have recent pictures to support it!

When do women consider themselves as curvey, large, ample, fabulous etc?

I have seen pics of women that say they are bbw, but to me they are curvy

I love a woman with something about her, i hate stereotypes. You are what you are and we love you for it x

if you say you're fat, you get messages of people trying to use 'not being fat' as a compliment, if you say you're curvy, ample bbw etc there's always someone who will think you're too big or too small for whatever label you choose.
