The Muirfield golf club members have voted to keep on excluding women from their club.
One of the reasons cited is that the women would interfere with the lunch arrangements.
You pesky women with your manners and serviettes coming in and ruining it for everyone. |

If its ok to have ladies only sessions in saunas.gyms etc etc why isnt ok to have a men only golf club, there plenty of other clubs that welcome ladies and if a majority of the members vote for a male only policy why shouldnt they? I dont play golf and if I did I wouldnt join a male only club but totally support their right to do as they wish. |

"What are the lunch arrangements?!!"
The rumour is that, rather than using plates, lunch is served on the nubile bodies of young Eastern Europeans.
But you didn't here it from me, they're trying to keep it 'hush-hush'

It's a golf club for gods sake, they don't want women because they'll interfere with lunch.

It might be ridiculous but its their golf club so they can do as they wish, some might say its ridiculous for people to go swinging or have sex with people of the same gender |

Quite a few would exclude gay men or single men but thats not what I meant, its their club and they have a right to say who can be in it, I not disagreeing with you in many ways and I think its strange but thats not the point |

There are plenty of other golf clubs why not go to one that accepts women as members rather than criticising their decision about their club.
Their club, their rules, their preference.

"I wonder if the members spend their lunches damning the eyes of those Colonials for tipping all that tea into Boston Harbour. "
No, The lunch comment is the practice of a traditional “lunch” round taking the same time as lunch and fears that slow play by women may upset that tradition.
It should also be pointed out that Muirfield do accept women as guests and visitors.

"I didn't know women were allowed to play golf anyway. .at my local club we always believed golf stood for Gents Only Ladies Forbidden .... " yes being a golfer myself I've heard that haha. Don't want the women hacking up the course or taking too long to play. I've been a member of a prestigious golf club before similar to muirfield an open venue. Most women simply find the courses too tough with deep rough and cavenous bunkers etc fucking nightmare stuck behind them! |

I find it perfectly in order that the club remain male.
It's a private club and they are entitled to make their own rules.
Women are not banned from playing golf in this country in clubs that wish to have mixed membership.
Fraternisation with whom we choose is one of the rights I will protect.
Yes I am a feminist. Yes I do see the need for some to have time with their own gender.
Just join another club ffs. |

In fact....... stop whining and start a woman only golf club.
It is archaic to consider that people should be omitted from something on a gender basis alone but this is about socialising .... If men want a mens only atmosphere let them have it - and vice versa. |

Women arent banned from playing at the courses where there is male only membership either, infact the only time I have managed to play Muirfield it was because a very good female amatuer player that I used to know invited me. Ironic. |
