My children all have traditional Scottish and English names (named after grandparents and great-grandparents), I love how they are back in fashion so to speak. I won't give their names but I love Alexandra, Harold, Florence, Susan, Peter as well. |

My daughter has one of the less common 'puritan' or so called 'virtue' names dating from the 17th Century which I guess is pretty 'old fashioned'. But feel a bit reticent about posting it here as it'd probably identify us to anyone who knew us .... love a lot of those names though, even though neither of us are at all religious.

"Gabriel
Moses
Ezekiel (zeke for short)
I love the name Ezekiel but I am not cool enough to call my kid(should I have any) that."
It's all a dream for me as I don't want kids anyway. But when I do eventually get a cat he will be called Agron. From Spartacus. |

I know people with kids called Mary, George and Gabriel.
I like Irish names. My son has a pretty common Irish name but it's spelt the Irish way so the spelling is uncommon over here. |

My granddaughter's name is Grace. Named after my mother who adopted me as a baby. The old girl cried like a baby when my daughter first told her as she held her for the first time. A precious memory of a wonderful lady. |

That name disappeared from England after 1066
I know someone who called their kids Eldred and Renfric.
I like Esme, Amy, and Lily for girls, Jacob and Isaac for boys."
It's odd - names certainly come in and out of fashion in waves.
My daughter was in some local god-awful production but looking through the programme it was interesting to note the shear number of Chloes, Millies, Abbeys and Lilys... and a few Kaitlyns too.
Some people have very little imagination.
But you need to be careful with a child's name - they carry it for life. For instance, there is one boy in my daughter's school called Kal-El, believe it or not.
So.
What to do?
Pick something common, or something wacky? |

I'm hoping we've managed the best of both with our youngest, it's a traditional name on his birth certificate but we've shortened it in a very unique way so he can stand out or blend in as much as he wants as he gets older. |

I chose my daughters name out of the Lord of the Rings, but she can shorten it to something normal (and does! ) When she worked in a call centre she was called by someone with the same name so they commiserated with each other for having Tolkien fans for parents.
her middle name is even weirder though. Muhahahahaaaa. |
