"Everyones "at it" over there, i was living on the 39th floor (one under the penthouse) in one of the top hotels in Dubai, we has a few cool bars on the ground floor and it was so easy meeting UK girls, drinking with them then showing them the "View" from our apartment in the sky. The same bars in our hotel were FULL of Hookers most nights and i mean wall to wall, there was no way the Hotel management could have been unaware either as it was so rife. Infact me and my work mates were 100% convinced the Hotel were in on it - i.e. pimping the girls out ![]() Shame I didn't know you when I was living out there ![]()
"Extra marital sex is against the law there. Sharing rooms with people you are not married to is against the law there. I am not excusing the men. I am not saying the Saudis laws are just. I am saying that if a man assaulted me sexually or raped me and I found him and shot him in cold blood. I'd expect to be arrested because shooting someone is against the law here." But that isn't a comparable crime. You chose to shoot your hypothetical attacker. A rape victim doesn't choose to have extra marital set with their attackers.

"I dont really get the fascination of Dubai as a holiday destination. Not somewhere we would go to " Take it you've never been then? It's a beautiful city and the country itself is beautiful and fascinating
"I dont really get the fascination of Dubai as a holiday destination. Not somewhere we would go to Take it you've never been then? It's a man made city dropped into a sandpit, all fake, the place has no soul or history whatsoever and is full of plastic weekend millionaires - i hated it after a matter of months and only stayed as i was on a contract and earning $$$$ I even had to endure a whole month of Ramadan ![]()

Sharing a hotel room with someone you are not married to is illegal. In SAUDI. She was in Saudi. She broke Saudi law. Allegedly , that is what she has been arrested for.

"Fucking urgh!! And that's one of the many reasons I have zero desire to go there. Trying to pass it off as 'well it's their law' is bullshit too. " I wasn't passing the rape off. Or Saudi laws off. I'm clarifying ( in as far as I can glean ) what she was arrested for. I haven't made comment on what I think about it at all.
"The law is ridiculous and I feel desperately sorry for the woman but I'd have been out of the country like a shot in her situation, not least as the attackers wer British and from the press coverage known to her so she could have pursued them via the British justice system. Buy ultimately it's their law. And plenty of those who are outraged about this (generally not on this thread) are the same people who will repeatedly bemoan foreigners coming to this country and not adopting to British law's and customs. I was aware of the tight stringent laws but was unaware that it applied to rape. So I'd there no such thing as rape law in Arabic countries?
