Yo Sushi ain't bad and it's many times better than the little tray things you find in supermarkets.

It ain't as good as you'll get in Yokosuka but that's a long way from home.

one time when working for a japanese company went to iceland with some colleagues from Head Office who were looking for a fresh source of "Uni" (thats the egg sacks of Sea Urchins to us mere mortals)...

we were taken out on a boat to an icelandic fjord were to chaps donned all the clobber and dived down to collect sea urchins off the sea floor..

when they returned we sat on the boat cracking open these creatures and picking out the egg sacks with chop sticks and swilling them down with some local aquavit

Street urchins are best well battered and barbequed.

Sushi and sashimi have to be eaten fresh and remember there are lots of different sorts.

Yo sushi or wagamama are good places to try rather than tescoes.

Yo! is ok, however, there are independent outfits that are way better IMHO.

I would only go to Yo! if I am really desperate.

Would agree but up here they are few and far between. Got a great independent one in Sheffield Sakushi but Yo is easier to find and get a seat!

I do eat fish but it has to be battered and fried. The thought of eating fish raw makes me want to heave.

Vagas is cheaper and there are some great sushi chefs there. last visit I had a meal to share which included about 12 pieces of tuna. between 3 of us we ate about £12 worth and I was stuffed. needless to say we went back a few times.

Budakan in Bristol's not to bad, Clifton deli do a nice selection of takeaway. Not found anywhere local yet

"oh and sea urchin is foul"

No they aren't, they are a shell fish of the Echinoidea family. Next you will be saying they have feathers.

My thoughts exactly, i mean if i was really going to recommend the best seafood and sushi i would say Kending Night Market, aboyt an hour and a half from Taipei. The fishing boats unload there and the quality is above anything i have ever had ,for a fraction of the price you would pay in japan.

However i was trying to be helpful...that'll teach me!

dont want to piss on anyones Sushi, and not only cos its rude but did anyone see the programme on C4 about what some Japanese fishermen are doing to the dolphins?

It was truly shocking, even more so considering the levels of toxins in the dolphins.

The schools in some prefecture's were using the dolphin meat in the lunches for the students.

It can only be a matter of time before some fool suggests feeding chicken to schoolkids in the UK.
