I've run out of book space in my bedroom but I want to buy more... but to do that I need to clear off a bookcase in my living room to utilise it properly.

Surely there's no such thing as too many books?

"Get a Kindle, got more books on mine than I could ever read."

It's not the same as tuning a page and it does't hurt as much when the book hits you in the face when you fall asleep

I don't think you are being creative enough.

Do you want to read/own them or display them ?

Impossible to have too many books.

Could a different stacking strategy possibly work?

If not, I'm sure you could find a willing soul to pop along to assist you...

I've got a kindle so use that for fiction and stuff I consume quickly, and save shelf space for non-fiction and hardbacks. My husband doesn't believe in kindles and has hundreds of books though so we just ended up moving to a bigger house.

That sounds like me and Marc. He has a kindle, though, but he prefers books. He has books in two US states and the UK. They number in the thousands. He's read almost all of them but refuses to get rid of them for reference purposes.

I'm currently suffering from the same dilemma. Come the new year I'm going to get tough and have a clear out...I think. Getting rid of books is not easy though. Far easier to just create some new space for more books!

Buy a copy of Fahrenheit 451 next and use it more as a lifestyle guide than a piece of fiction

No such thing at all! Mine are everywhere! My book case has doors and I daren't open it for fear of being buried in books so now new ones get stored on various shelves.

Update - I managed to restrain myself to only buying three

And I actually have three ebook reader apps on my phone, all of which are full. But I much prefer reading an actual book as opposed to words on a screen & charity shop books are far cheaper too.

Its weird I know, but I have previously pondered the scenario where aliens came to visit earth without knowing anything about us. If they just had the books on your bookshelves to learn about us, what impression would they get?
