I've finally plucked up the courage to join a gym and been shown round the scary machines by a man child who looks like he's been blown up with a foot pump.

Now I just need to find the courage to actually go and play about with said scary machinery and make it look like I know what the feck I'm doing

Where do I start?

Get a session with a personal trainer to show you in more depth.

Selfies. Always selfies. At the start before you are too sweaty.

Duck face is mandatory

I hate new gym anxiety, ask reception when their quietest times are then go then until you've built your confidence up x

Make sure you overload FB with timeline updates of 'smashed it at the gym this morning/afternoon/evening'

It's mandatory I believe.

I would suggest you get involved in classes! If your gym offers Body pump (or a boot camp, sign up - you'll get fit and meet people and it takes away all the newbie jitters

Not to mention, don't actually work out. Spend the hour strutting round with your protein shaker bottle.

Less flippantly, assess what your goals are and come up with a program that fits those goals.

Goals? No one said I'd have to play football!

I want thin legs, a tight ass, less belly and arms that don't look like badly packed sausages...is there a program for that?

The most important thing to remember is to drink a protein shake as you walk out of the gym, just so everyone outside knows you've just been to the gym.

Yeah ends in depth alright, not in the gym though, but still a good workout so win win
