I get grumpy when I’m sneezy which is dopey really, but happy when I’m sleepy but I’m too bashful to see the doc about that!
Now the doc has got the nurse to take me back to my room so I’m grumpy again

If they wish to be grumpy and stay in that negativity then up to them . I just avoid mood hoovers , stick with the posative people and the grumpy can go brood away by themselves. Don't give it second thought ,certainly not let it annoy me .I can't choose their mood but I can control my own . |

In 'How to win friends and influence people', Dale Carnegie says 'never critisise, condemn or complain'.
It might be a bit OTT, but just catch yourself each time you do it, it might surprise you how many needless negative things you say.
Have fun xx

Seriously. If you never criticized, condemned, or complained could you imagine how much people would fuck you over? I like my ass, and I decide who gets to fuck it. |

Correct, that's why I mentioned it being OTT
What I'm saying is people could pause before coming out with the comment, as often it's out of habit.
Of course sometimes it's absolutely necessary. Just an idea... |

People might have good reasons for being grumpy. I've been in a constant state of anxiousness these past 13 months because I've got stressful things going on. I reserve every bit of patience I have for my child, everybody else gets my abruptness. |

I find that the friends that can accept me when I am being a totally grumpy arse of a fecker are the ones closest and most trusted. A very select few they may be, but like myself, they know that putting on a front all the time can be draining and needless when your real friends won't ignore you just because you are having a bad day. |

Often, no, and as a result I sometimes fall into habits of saying unecessarily negative things.
I also work near somebody who comments on the negative aspect of everything, which is incredibly draining.
I'm not proposing everybody being happy-clappy 24/7 , just avoiding unnecessary negatives sometimes. |

Ah, yes. I can understand that and agree with it. I thought you were suggesting a happyland filled with a facade of glitter and eternal smiling. I'm trying to be more aware of my own unnecessary negativity but that pause can be difficult. |

Phew
At a previous employer, we all had to do those courses, and the people doing them tended to be the type you describe. But, some of what they said was useful, lots of people get into the habit of complaining about too many things. I do it too, sometimes.
Obviously if someone is messing you about or a meal is garbage etc, you complain.
At the same time, some people fall into the habit of commenting on the negative in everything. That can stop them enjoying things as much as they could.
It's just the old 'glass half full' thing but rippled out.
But, I couldn't live without having a grumble and a rant occasionally too |

There's a small plaque in my hallway put there by my wife that puts it perfectly....
"A lovely lady and a grumpy old man live here"
Unfortunately she is no longer with us to be lovely!
But life must go on! |

"I'm just finishing my lunch break but I've been thinking of starting a thread on a topic close to this. Maybe I'll kick it off tonight.
Do it! I'm curious. "
I will do. It might help with the things you've been working on.
Or not, we'll see |

I was annoyed in supermarket for having to get in a long queue for a couple of items and asked if supervisor, looking at the queue, would serve me at customer services desk, she got an assistant to serve me,who was grumpy, which made me grumpy! |

You are quite right, but I try not to be grumpy with others. When we got out, I said to my hubby, was I a grumpy bitch in there and he says ,yes you were a bit, so that made me more grumpy! I'm alright now, though! |

"I dont like overly positive happy people that say things like "dont be so negative grumpy pants"
I just want to punch them in the face "
I find that these days people use the grumpy insult as a way of belittling people and shutting down debate. |

I do see what you mean. There's a lot I could respond with what you're saying, but that would involve expressing a level of personal detail I'm not comfortable with.
Hence the facetious remark.
Plus everybody's seems to arguing with me today lol.

I tend to be pretty grumpy. I don't much like it and I'm trying to change.
That said, one of the biggest causes of my grumpiness (especially on Fab) is people telling me to be more positive. If it was that easy I'd have done it already. |

Darkness only lasts the nighttime, in the morning it will fade away, daylight is good at arriving at the right time because it's not always going to be this grey!.

This is also my bugbear - mocking someone for being a certain way isn't going to help.
It's similar to telling someone to calm down, it can often have the opposite effect. |
