All the time, but not to engineer a meet. I message about forum posts predominantly, some I continue to message some I don't. That's not to say this hasn't led to meets it has but that was never my intention.

I do occasionally message a random guy late at night, if I'm not wanting to sleep and I fancy a chat. I will make sure the guy is 100s of miles away so there's no misinterpretation as to why I'm messaging. Although that's backfired when the guy tells me he's in the area on business regularly, closely followed by FAF. Then there's the other issue, you both want to meet. Then commences a military operation of epic proportions trying to organise meeting. I love Fab
