They are very old fashioned, in the days when showing flesh between the top of the socks and bottom of the trousers was considered as bad form.
I have yet to come across a gent that wears them.
My dad did, however, he belonged to an older generation, and he was a gentleman.
Sexy they are not, however, they serve an important function in a gentleman's wardrobe, IMHO.

I kinda guess they could be……if attached around the silken thigh of some nubile downy skinned pert breasted nymph tentatively supporting a pair of lusciously sexy over the knee socks and now’t else……
But apart from that, and in the case of the sort mostly sported by a certain breed of elderly gentlemen attempting to keep their pearly white calves from spontaneous exposure every time they sit down or cross their legs….. uuh-uuh,,,,, that’s not sexy ……. Not in my book anyway…… but I reserve the right to change my mind as the years unfold in front of me…… hey…. ya never know,,,,,,
