It depends purely on the amount of food.
The word 'dinner' is associated with the largest meal of the day.
If that's at lunch time then you've had dinner and equally so if it's in the evening.
There's also the north/south divide where many northerners will refer to the evening meal as tea where as southerners tend to use dinner as their preferred choice.
As long as you enjoy what you're eating, it's no biggie. Just enjoy the diverse way we all use language folks. There's no right or wrong way.

"Does the order of meals go
Breakfast, Dinner, Tea
or
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Discuss (although we all should know its Breakfast, Dinner, Tea )"
Hmmmm.... Well, after breakfast, my workday adds a mid morning food break and after lunch (not dinner ) there's another break for noms. Then home for dinner/tea. And maybe a little smackerel of something later in the evening... |

"Whenever belly feeding time may be. The first meal of the day is breakfast so I guess I just have breakfast, albeit in the evening "
Sometimes this too. If I'm busy with a project I can go all day with nothing and realise I'm hungry when I stop, but if hungry I can eat a full meal any time of day or night... |
