Vets warn of the dangers from extreme breeding in animals by humans. A horse has been bred with a somewhat concave head, which could cause breathing difficulties but is worth several million. Seems we take things too far, it's disgusting to subject beautiful creatures to our whims. Other animal breeding and treatment bother you?

Did anyone else see the news item? I didn't look at the facebook profile with the horse pics as it would probably be very distressing.

Just literally read an article in the daily mail about hairless guinea pigs bred for the dermatology industry to perform years on. Sick. There enough sick fucks in prison to perform these tests on. Murderers rapists child abusers let them be tested on thwy are more animal than animals.

These 'designer' dogs that are bred

Cockerpoo? No it's a mutt

Labradoodle? No, it's a mutt.

Differing breed traits, which shouldn't be mixed, not to mention health issues.

I'd be more inclined to cross match breeds of dogs, at least the gene pool would be enriched, rather than perpetuate pure breed traits.

the kennel club does just that! When you buy a pedigree dog that meets kennel club standard you are, in essence, helping breed deformities into certain species. The Rhodesian Ridgeback is called so because of the ridge on its back which is a deformity. The king Charles spaniel is bread to have a really small skull which is too small to house the brain and causes medical problems. The British Bulldog is bread to have a short snout which leads to breathing problems! It's the same for many breeds. If you look at pictures of what the breed used to look like they look very different. Other breeds where problems are formed from breeding in attributes to fit 'kennel club standard are: boxer, alsation, schitzu and quite a few others!

I remember a few years ago watching a documentary about the history of crafts and how over the years the original breeds are dying out...how pitbulls look now were completely different to say 50 60 years ago.

And yes health problems and life expectancy are a huge issue. It's such a shame that it's seen as a dogs and other animals are interbreed to be a ' fashion statement '

Is that the one that looked like a Disney cartoon horse? I hate to see pugs because I know they've been bred for flat faces and that causes breathing problems... and I'm not an animal person and I can see it's not right.

I totally agree with you the german sheps today look totally different to when the breed was started

the in breeding has made their backs slope so much they can hardly walk and recommend you have hip score checks when you buy a kc reg dog

I have have a GSD X and actually had a person that shows GSD`s criticising my dog and tell me how great hers was because of its breeding. Thing is her GSD and its siblings hadn`t made it past 6 years old but she didn`t seem to care about that because it had won at crufts.

Sure extreme breeding has been going on for a long time in the UK

The more extreme you get the more benefits you get

the BBC didnt broadcast crufts this year because of the backlash its had over the last few years..some other channel did , but at least it highlighted the issue...i hate seeing those overbred dogs..i think there's a bye law round me that says along with a child called josh and a 3 wheel jogging buggy, you have to be dragging along a cockapoo! apparently they tend to go blind quite young! horrible!

They probably drive a range rover too and only let the dog in the house for a picture to put on facebook. Then it goes back in its kennel, outside so it doesn`t damage their designer leather couch.

oh no, they treat them like little babies, along with their teenage kids..they do all drive range rovers though..and i'll think you'll find leather sofas are terribly common! a decent sofa round here has to be scandi, like the wives..

Look at what they have done with the German Shepard, it has changed a lot since my childhood.
