Imagine you are swimming underwater. Really imagine it. You are holding your breath because if you lost control you'd drown.
Really convince yourself - do the actions, close your eyes. Feel the swoosh of the bubbly water past your face. Hear the underwater sounds.
You'll regain voluntary control of your diaphragm and the hiccups will be gone. |

Just regulate your breathing, really smooth and steady. In through your nose, out through your mouth. Concentrate on making your breaths steady and even.
It'll take a minute or two and then your hiccups should stop. |

Get a pint of water. Hold your breath. Then swallow small sips of water and keep going until you have to breathe in again. Repeat a few times.
Works every time for me; I've even done it with gin and tonic or beer instead of the water - and managed it by dry swallowing a couple of times when I've had hiccups on the move and no fluids on me. |

Get a paper or plastic bag and breathe in and out of it making a tight seal around your nose and mouth with your hands. Continue for a minute or two until your breathing rate slows due to the lowering of oxygen, then your diaphragm will have come out of spasm. |

Basically this but also press tongue against roof of mouth (affects a connected nerve) |

Next time you get hiccups, someone can come round to yours and berate you until you cry |
