Ooo, that's cold!

I was once down at minus 70! Very briefly, inside an environmental test chamber. Now that was really cold, in there about 1 minute, frost in my hair.

Do we have any arctic/antarctic explorers, anyone with a claim to even colder?

Not as impressive but i'm half norwegian and lived there for a year doing my masters - regularly went camping in the mountains, blizzard conditions often into April and altitude, glad J was knackered as otherwise I wouldnt have slept it was that cold.

Not sure what temp was the lowest but I often woke up with frozen condensation in my beard.

I didn't try to find out how long I might have survived it. It was a work thing, needed an adjustment on some electronics inside this big walk in freezer place. Was supposed to spend a day warming it up, two mins to fix the equipment, a day cooling it down again. And cost thousands in time.

Or I could just put my big coat and gloves on... Got the two min job done in one min and got out of there!

Where I used to work the factory was temperature controlled to no higher than 3C, the frozen area's were -5C and the freezers were -25C.

-3 here but says it feels like -9 with the wind chill. Got the car running so it's nice and warm for when I need to drive to the school and to work.

-4 here. Sat in my office hugging my coffee machine thinking of plugging in my USB feet warmers.

It’s quite refreshing in a crisp way when out and about.

Hull

In the late 70's, I toured Sweden with a Choir & Orchestra in their winter months at a time when they were experiencing an excessively cold snap.

In Stockholm, it was -35 on average. BUT..

Everything worked! No problems with roads, transport including airports. Utilities didn't fail either.
