On the back of the thread about corsodyl toothpaste, which I now understand is for gum health, has anybody found a really good whitening toothpaste, or any whitening tips? My teeth are not too bad but I'm always keen to keep them as white as possible.
I have tried coconut oil but haven't really noticed a difference. |

lets be honest toothpaste cant possibly whiten teeth...brushing your teeth cant make them white either , it cleans them .
i also heard corsodol stains the teeth ,makes sense re its colour , bit like tea..
maybe use milk as mouthwash lol
i see teeth as a window as opposed to a mirror if you get my drift
polish only the front of a mirror ....polish both sides of a glass window ....
i bet i you took a tooth out and experimented how to make it white it would never whiten , gloss paint maybe , white nail varnish lol.

Copied and pasted from Urban Dictionary
Teeth Whitening
to get sucked off by a woman and just as you reach the point of no return, pull out and make her smile broadly before chucking your baby batter all over her enamel.
John: I was getting sucked off by Stacey last night and finished off by giving her a bit of teeth whitening. Bitch looked like an Arm and Hammer model afterwards. |

3% hydrogen peroxide solution from the chemist cost about £1.25 a bottle, you can use it as a mouthwash or mix it with toothpaste to make your own whitening formula, or paint it on your teeth where the worse stains are then wash off |

Tooth whitening kits are available for a few pounds, just search ebay. The kits you can buy are not as strong as those you can buy from a dentist but they do a reasonable job.
The really strong, prescription only kits from a dentist, can sting your gums like hell but will make your teeth as white as snow.(a bit too white, some say). |

"I doubt whether there is a toothpaste to whiten teeth, otherwise people wouldn't spend hundreds on having teeth whitening procedures. Teeth discolour naturally as we get older "
What you might think is yellow staining may be due to the enamel thinning with age and the dentine showing through, you can't scrub this to clean it off but the teeth bleaching kits will work on it. |

I quite fancy having it done, but I don't like the brilliant white look, it looks false. I suppose its something you could do gradually |

Just go through your dentist,I used a gel which you wear at night in a guard especially made for your teeth used over a few weeks. You don't get the brilliant fake look, but a more natural look. |

Corsodyl mouthwash contains chlorhexidine which sticks to the teeth then stain sticks to it and can only be removed by a dental professional. DO NOT USE IT.
Bleaching kits and whitening toothpaste from the web or chemist do not work.DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
whitening carried out by a beautician or any other person who is not on the General Dental Council register is ILLEGAL... DON'T RISK IT!
If you're serious go to see your dentist and get custom trays fitted with the gel you take home, it only stings your gums if you overload the trays.
Laser whitening doesn't work either it only dehydrate your teeth so they appear whiter....24-36 hours later they're back to normal. |

The whitening kit I got from my dentist was £350 and £70 for refills.
The whitening kits from eBay are about £6.
I imagine you can guess which is more effective.
The cheaper ones are not so strong that they will erode your enamel and they will make your teeth look fresher.
The prescription only stuff from the dentist can make your teeth dazzling white but can have side effects if used incorrectly.
They contain the same ingredient, hydrogen peroxide, but the difference between 2% and 10% is very noticeable. |

Thank you. I did pick up a leaflet last time I was there. How long does it last before you have to have it done again, suppose it depends on drinking coffee, red wine etc? |

Yeah drinking coffee doesn't help,I had mine done about 18 month's now and I've just picked up a couple of syringes to give them a boost. |

Teeth whitening, from a kit, a dentist or other option, doesn't produce a permanent result, so even if you thought it was too white, it wouldn't last.
I've used Hydrogen peroxide and baking soda (adding to toothpaste) before. Baking soda is in some toothpastes, like Arm and Hammer. Whilst they won't provide an instant whitening, because they will be cleaning incrementally, they can make a difference. Be wary of hurting your gums though.
The Crest whitening strips, sold in the USA, are good too - there are different pack strengths. |

Just a note of caution. I spent over £5G having my teeth straightened (two years with agonizing braces that cut into my gums and cheeks) and whitened and they are still not perfectly straight or white. have to wear a retainer at night and occasionally re do the whitening. It's an expensive business.
I could have had dentures instead for about £3G. It's nice to have my own teeth but they have been high maintenance and not perfect results. |
