Is receiving a prostate massage safe?

From a medical point of view, as I'm not a doctor, I was wondering if having someone massage your prostate safe? I know it's a great feeling when someone touches it but I have no clue if having it touched might spark off some medical condition.

May be it's a stupid question but it's one that's always concerned me

It's okay, I'll cut my fingernails before.

I would assume nothing too forceful, with cut nails and clean fingers, will be ok.

I've done it many times.

Yes it is a stupid question, you have anal listed as an interest, do you ever wonder if that might have medical implications as a cock is a tad bigger than a finger

most fundamental aspects

It may, in some cases actually identify an underlying prostate issue that a trained medical professional could examine.

Now I know that an enlarged prostate is not going to be as easy to detect as a lump on the testicle or breast but you never know

Only just, and then only if it’s your little finger

Failing actually finding something, it could “pave the way” so the doctor’s finger isn’t as much of a shock.

A bit like a set of different size butt plugs: small, medium and “breathe in”. Also I’m not saying all doctors fingers are automatically large.

Perfectly safe but frowned upon in the Aldi checkout queue apparently

I don't think there is much quality medical research to indicate that prostate massage is either benificial or harmful. There is, however, strong guidance to avoid them for several days before having a PSA test done as it could give false positive readings and misdiagnosis of possible prostate cancer leading to further more intrusive tests.
