The rapid repeat of the same topic under slightly changed headings formed my opinion. What you see as irrelevant or jovial in those threads I take seriously. The comments, spin off threads and messages I received confirm my bias. I don't find sexism/misogyny/misandry funny. I have seen the damage from the normalisation of "it's just banter" and "it's your problem taking it seriously". I don't take racism or homophobia, transphobia or taking the piss out of disability lightly either. Yet, I have a sense of humour, can enjoy dark humour, and manage to be quite personable. I know I'm not the only person to have experienced those threads as a negative, misogynistic attack. But, no rules were broken so the debate continues. | |||
