"My dear Mums Bacon and Onion Suet Pudding . I never did get to ask her how she made it "
Ooh my sister used to make this regularly.
Have a look online for bero recipes. They were a flour producer that used to have a small cook book. I think you can still buy the book online. The recipe in there for Suet pastry is fab, in fact all the recipes work really well and it's the only cook book I've ever used.
My sister's bacon pudding was made in a basin lined with Suet pastry. The filling was chopped bacon, chopped onions and plenty of freshly ground pepper. Seal the lid with pastry, cover as the recipe suggests and steam in a saucepan for a couple of hours.
The best bacon to use is the stuff that's sold as cooking bacon or mis-shapes. It's usually quite chunky instead of proper slices and is cheaper too. |

If you go to be-ro dot co dot uk you can order a copy of the recipe book (not sure what it costs) and/or download it free |

"Angel delight
Instant mash(robots)
Butterscotch Angel delight?
Thats so nice..."
I found new versions by accident and they were strawberry, butterscotch, chocolate, mint chocolate, white chocolate and banana.
Can't remember how many or what the original flavours were |

If you look really hard you can still buy loads of this shit. And it is still shit. We had a retro party and I sourced loads of it, blue nun wine as well, that is as awful as you’re thinking. I even made a flan with quick set jel, tinned fruit and that authentic soggy bottom. Don’t forget your can of tip top to pour over the top. |

"Corned beef. I still love it. Not the stupid posh kind that you buy at the deli counter for 5 slices. The proper stuff that comes from a can!"
The tinned stuff is too expensive for my liking. Hard to get a ty for under £1.50 these days. |

I saw a lonely bottle of Hirondelle in an old offie. It lingered there for a few years. But it could well have seasoned and matured into something quite decent to drink. |

I must look closer, not seen either.
I would give scampi fries a try again but the fish n chips weren't so great. |

That’s the one, couldn’t think what it was called.
Mind you dread to think what the sugar content was |

We used to have various tinned fruits (peaches, pears, mandarins, etc) with Carnation evaporated milk for dessert when I was a kid. Cheap and cheerful as there were four of us kids to be fed.....
