...or Accoustic?

Whats your favourite version of a song that has been covered by both genres?

For example, Eric Clapton's Layla, electric or accoustic versions.

Not keen on guitar music in general, but I do quite like Rodrigo y Gabriella

Their 1st CD on in the car is not a good idea - unless, that is, u need to get somewhere in a hurry !

South West London / Surrey

I just love the sound of an electric guitar, just does something to me.

One of my all time favourite songs is Parisian Walkways by Gary Moore.

When he holds that note it makes my bits tingle.

just 2 x acoustic guitars - no other instruments

and yes it gets quicker towards the end believe it or not

and with wrist action like that, who wouldn't want a wank off either of these two

Layla is pants without Jim Gordon's piano solo...

'Local Boy In A Photograph' by the 'phonics is a song that improves on just an acoustic....

There is a version somewhere of Springsteen doing Born in the Usa on just an acoustic with a bit of Dobro in the background - now that is spooky....

Generally though, if a song was written for an electric it needs that sound...

You're Crazy by Guns n Roses

The electric one on Appetite is probably the best known but I like the accoustic one on GnR Lies. I think the meaning of the lyrics comes through with less noise.

The version on the flip side of Welcome to the Jungle 12" vinyl is a good version too.

Did I mention I've been playing guitars since I was six years old? Can play a little on the keyboards and harmonics (good tongue action) lol

I've got just about everything that Bruce Springsteen has released this side of the Atlantic and there are some great accoustic versions of his hits, but I'm not a fan of Born In The USA in unplugged mode.

I love electric blues, especially blues boogie, and I'll take it over accoustic sound most times

Electric, and my wife has just said she agrees.

Sadly she didn't know what the original question was

Incidentally, James Dean Bradfield did a genius acoustic version of Motorcycle Emptiness on the Review Show on BBC2 a couple of weeks ago....

Now that's a song that does work in both versions
