We have never done one of the big shows down London and thought we would try one this year
Now the question is which one ?
Anybody got any recomendations ?

i'm the same never had the opportunity and would love to go to one
so i'll be watching this thread with interest as i think this year may be the year we finally get our butts along to one |

thats the one i keep looking at as i'm sure we would both enjoy it
its difficult picking one as we have quite differing tastes in such things
like i would like to see rock of ages as its the music of my youth but mr b would hate it as he would feel they were ruining songs he loved

I saw Wicked in January and it was fantastic, very clever, and turns the idea of The Wizard of Oz on it head.
I have also heard really good things about Jersey Boys though. |

You also have Mamma Mia if you havent seen that
Love going to the Theatre when in London and loved either Annie when i went down and also was treated to Buddy - not sure if that is still going around or not.
Also Dirty Dancing and Ghost is meant to be really good and also Stomp is a good one as well or Chicago. |

saw part of the show at Last Night of the Proms @ Hyde Park last year - was fantastic, got everyone up and dancing  
Also loved "We Will Rock You"
Les Miserables is another fantastic show - blown away with the music and seamless scenery changes
so many to choose from and whatever you go to see - enjoy!!

in order of how much i enjoyed them
1. chicago
2. sunset boulevard
3. miss saigon
4. the king and i
5. thoroughly modern millie
6. seven brides
oh and i know it's not a musical, but if you can get tickets for a mrs brown show, do so. i have seen 4 and they were all hilarious. much better in a theatre than on the telly.
not been to 'a show' for ages - think i need to change that this year |

I would just say choose one that you personally like the look off, you will have a fantastic time, we only go down to london to the theatre for special occasions. But you can get day trips to the theatre from here now by coach and i want to start going on them.
Also if you are in london and fancy seeing a show at the last minute you can go to the main box office and see what tickets are left at a fraction of the price |

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA I just love it and going again next month , At HER MAJESTY'S THEATRE its a really lovely theater been going over 20 years and still out of this world x |

Went to see We will rock you a few years back - loved it!
Lord of the Rings is great. We didn't have very good seats and I want to go again with better seats. |

Woman in Black was amazing. Very old theatre, atmospheric and very spooky. Genuinely freaky, unlike the film.
Wicked was also fantastic. My friend cried at the end, the actual show is utterly amazing, left me speechless.
Phantom of the Opera is also fantastic. Something I'd always wanted to see from childhood. And it certainly lived up to the expectation.
I want to see Starlight Express, but that isn't showing in London now. |

i'm thinking that as we aren't too fussy as to what one we see maybe we could just rock up on the day and see what deal we can get will that work or will we be dissapointed? |

Singing In The Rain is what I am planning to see when I go up to London at the end of September, after I have been to see the Queen's jewels at Buck House.
We Will Rock You is a great show, and so is Chicago.

Just had a look at the musicals on offer.
Of the old time classics, I have seen previous productions of Carousel, South Pacific, and Crazy For You, and they were all very good.
Apart from Singing In The Rain, I like the look of Top Hat.

Miss Saigon did not do much for me, except for the set which was fantastic.
I saw Oklahoma! starring a virtually unknown Hugh Jackman, and he was LUSH!
Also Cat On A Hot Tin Roof starting a very hunky Brendan Fraser as he was then. You could hear the ladies gasping when he first walked onto the stage wearing just a towel around his waist!   |

Occasionally if u go to the theatre on the morning u want to go, u can get front row tickets as they always keep some for the people in the show just incase they have people who want to watch! And they sell them of real cheap! Worth a go! |
